Very nicely done! I especially like the keys on the comms specialist being
painted. The integrated number on the stands were nice too.

They're simple office supplies number stickers, glued on before applying the
basing material. A friend of mine got an even better system, using a lettering
machine; the numbers are slightly smaller and stand out less as a result. I'll
probably be getting one to put full regimental information
on my volley & bajonet franco-prussian war stands.
As for the comms specialist, I enjoyed painting that figure. The cats have to
take some credit, though, as they supplied one discared whisker, free of
charge, for the antenna.
Cheers,

Do many people do this? I personally can't stand it on my own figures. What I
plan to do is, on square based figs, print out a recangle with the unit info
along one edge, and temporarily mount it underneath the base, with just the
printed edge showing. This gives
you non-abstract info in a temporary mechanism. Most of my troops do
a pretty varied service, with opponents today being squadmates the next, so
I'm not sure how anything else would work for me.
I played in a WW2 game which involved 3 battalions of parachuting Germans
labelled like this, each with a black on while label that read
something like "III 1/1." Note each battalion was dropped (as a paper
label) from about 18" off the table, then replaced by a stand. All the stands
were nearly identical, with only the label to distinguish
them. Each battalion had about 20 stands. It was a nightmare-- every
action was preceded by a lengthy search to track down all the members of each
unit. This convinced me of the wonders of color coded labels,

Well, my squads tend to be fairly seperate. That is, my Ghurka's will not be
mixed with other squads, and neither will my new anglican's. I number all the
ghurka's in one sequence, and all the regular new anglican's in another. Then,
when playing, I make the squads my picking the figures as usual. I then
scribble any relevant info on the squad sheet (e.g. #45 acting squad leader
etc.)

Ouch. Sounds like a nightmare alright;)

My 20mm WWII tanks have aerials made from thin brass wire - it certainly
stops people leaning on the table (puncture wounds are the result).
I also once saw some modern 1/300th armour with aerials made from think
fishing line - this was pretty much indestructable. Not sure how well it
would work for longer aerials, but it should serve for 15 / 25mm
figures.

What's the best means for attaching them?
Drill a small diameter hole and superglue?
