Well, life is about change I guess.

I understand why Jon and KR may now be going in their own separate directions
(KR does have a burgeoning list of products and Jon
does now have a viable on-line presence).
However, that won't mean we don't miss KR. I hope (personally) that he'll
still attend GZG cons because he was fun to have around:)

My only reservations about the new system: International shipping plus the far
more odious duties levied by the government of Canada have made orders from
GZG more punitive from time to time than shopping directly from KR. Also,
miniature shipping (in 25mm or smaller) is relatively inexpensive, but
shipping vehicles from the UK is relatively more expensive than equivalent
shipping from the states. So we will very much miss KR. (Which is why I'll be
ordering a pile of stuff during the closeout
sale!).

There isn't much that can be done about this, but it is unfortunate for those
of us on this side of the Big Pond. I hope Bill from BR Snasis and our local
hobby shop here in Ottawa will still carry GZG stuff, but it has to get more
expensive with KR out of the picture.:(

Anyway, to Jon: Good luck and I do hope you
can support ECC and WCC in the US - they're far
to valuable to our small community to not at least make a good effort. I hope
this all pans out to the better!

To KR: Good luck! I look forward to buying more of your fine terrain product
and some of those wonderful wild west minis.:)

Yes, overseas carriage on heavy resin items does run higher than for metal
minis, but don't forget the difference in the basic pricing, Tom.....
For example, a Phalanx APC (SF25-86) in 25mm is (was) 26.50 USD from
GeoHex; from us it's 12.00 UKP, which after deducting the VAT and converting
it roughly = just over 14 US Dollars...... so even adding the carriage charges
AND any duties you get levied by the Customs, you're STILL getting it
cheaper.....

Tom, what you should really do is order a couple hundred dollars worth from KR
this month, then order the same from Jon and see what it works out to...

If a Canadian's order is stopped at the border to have tax applied to it (this
seems to be a hit or a miss type of thing, but more expensive items and larger
items are more likely to get stopped), they add a $5 handling fee. This is
true if it comes from the US or not. Likewise, the handling fee is for the
priviledge of them adding GST (and, in Ontario, Provincial Sales Tax). Again,
this will happen from a shipment from the US, too. The taxes are based on the
item price, not the postage.

I found that it was almost always cheaper to buy directly from GZG than to
order from the Geo-Hex, for the above reasons. Items from the US take
longer to clear customs in Canada. GZG packages were less likely to get hit
with the fees at the border.

One other neat thing to remember: GZG sells by the individual figure. If you
want, oh, 7 of a particular SG2 figure you don't have to buy 7 packs of three
just to get what you want.

At conventions, Geo-Hex was cheaper to buy from. I'm not sure what the
price difference would be in the US. Shipping charges across the Atlantic are
higher than shipping domestically in the US. I suspect that US customers won't
see a big price hike, if any.
