Hi again, I'm back on the list after a couple of months' hiatus. It's amazing
how much coordination it takes to organize your online stuff
when you get a new e-mail address!
I was leafing through my GenCon pre-registration booklet, and the only
GZG miniatures events I saw were the demos -- did I miss something?
I thought Jon Davis was going to be running the "Empress Arianna" tournament.
(BTW, I'll definitely be there -- this will be my 21st year at GenCon!)

You must have, there are several non-demo games going on. Here is a
full
list of GZG games at GenCon (August 6th-9th, Milwaukee, Wisconsin) for
you and everyone else to see:
Dirtside II
Grey Wind Regiment, (DEMO) each session different. Thursday 9pm, Friday 5pm,
Saturday 12 noon
Stargrunt II
Strike Force Tuffley (DEMO) Thursday 12 noon and 5pm, Friday 12 noon and 5pm,
Saturday 5pm and 9pm, Sunday 12 noon
Assault on Ventron series - Part 1, 2, and 3, (uses some advanced
rules) Friday noon, 5pm, 9pm and again same times on Saturday
Ork Hill! - Allan G's demo game using 40K figures, Sunday noon
Full Thrust
Full Thrust Demo - Thursday noon, 5pm, Friday noon, 9pm, Saturday
5pm, 9pm, Sunday noon.
Shoot Out at the OK Corral - Upgraded Sa'Vasku vs the Kra'Vak.
Though billed at demo level, with both of the aliens I would expect it to be a
little more difficult. Thursday 9pm.
Sci-Fi Crossover Anomaly - Star Wars Star Destroyers vs Classic Star
Trek and Babylon 5 (and maybe a special guest from another canceled series).
This
is my game and I am currently converting everything to Fleet Book construction
and rules. Not a demo level game but should get people's attention as they see
all of the familiar ships on the table Friday 5pm
Dark Star - Mike Miserendino's game based off of the movie of the
same name. Friday 9pm
Hell's Crossfire - NAC vs the Kra'Vak intro level, Friday 9pm
Alliance Attacks - Rebels vs Imperials, intro level, Saturday 5pm
To the Victors Go the Spoils - ESU convoy vs Kra'Vak, intro level,
Saturday
9pm
> I thought Jon Davis was going to be running the "Empress Arianna"
There will be a Full Thrust Tournament. Starting Saturday morning at 8am, 16
Admirals will start off in a single elimination tourney. 1500 pt Fleets (FT
2nd edition) will be provided (to prevent Mark Siefert's group from bringing
cheese fleets) with several to choose from. The fleets are being finalized now
and I hope to post them on this list soon for a final review that they are
relatively equal. 8 hours later we should have a winner. Allan Goodall, Mike
Miserendino, and I will be judging the tourney so you won't have to battle any
of us.
The above games are all sponsored by GeoHex (thanks KR) There are a couple of
other Full Thrust games being run by others:
Space Is For the Inexperienced - a learn to play demo, Saturday 8am
GM Brian Walter.
Experience is Relative - A Davion force vs the Bloody Clanner Fleet
(Battletech?), rated average difficulty and experience needed. Saturday 12
noon GM Michael McDonald
For more advanced non-demo games I would suggest for FT: Dark Star
(but we
both played that last year didn't we?), Sci-Fi Crossover Anomaly, the
FT Tournament, Shoot Out at the OK Corral, and Experience is Relative. For
SGII, the Assault on Ventron series.

Rick, your not that old. You must have started pretty young.
Since I am looking through the pre-reg info on Andon's site, I think
it's about high time I decided what I'm going to do this year.

Just what kind of "upgrade" are we talking about here?

This special guest wouldn't happen to be fleeing the Cylon tyranny, would
they? I'm deffinetly going to sign on to this one! It looks like a HOOT!

I'm there again... I'm yet to turn my space station in giant space bourne
sausage.

I haven't decided on there yet. I'll let you know.
> > I thought Jon Davis was going to be running the "Empress Arianna"
I'm there. Can we bring our on minis for this or no? I'm working on my new NAC
fleet, and I'd like to show it off this year.
While we are on the subject of Gen Con, here's a short list of stuff I'd also
be willing to play:
B5 Wars and/or EFSB
Star Blazers (I'll bring that chart that makes mass attacks easier to figure
out and roll for.) Illuminati (either NWO or the original game).
Heavy Gear/Jovian Chronicles (Since DP9 won't be there this
year.) Flintloque (I'll bring me Ork rifles; `ungry for a taste of Freach
flesh)
Also we Mailing List participants should consider where we will meet for our
annual dinner. Mike wanted to try Maeders, a very fancy german
resturant. I think that's a shirt-and-tie resturant. However, if we
want to try to go there, I'll look into the arrangements. We could also go to
that BBQ place on Water Street, like last year. A new option is the new Brett
Farve's Steakhouse. My dear sister went there a few
months ago and brought a doggie bag... EVEN THE LEFT-OVERS WERE
FANTASTIC (BTW, I reccomend the Ribs and the BBQed Sirlon Tips.) Another idea
I've been bouncing about my head would be a
brat-and-burger cook out at my place in Muskego (a 20 minute drive from
Milwaukee). Sweet Corn should be in season by then, so we can throw a
dozen or so ears on the grill and roast them as well. I don't know if we can
squeeze the trip into the schedule, though. Let me know what you guys think.
> > (BTW, I'll definitely be there -- this will be my 21st year at
He's well perserved... either that or he needs the sword I got last year.

It

Maeders is NOT a tie/jacket type of place... believe me, if they let ME
in they will let anyone in. I love that place.... Good food, good drink (I
usually end up stumbling back to the hotel), good atmosphere (some cute
waitresses)... can't ask for much more.
> Will there be a list member game like last year? Who else is planning
I have tenative plans to attend... but my work may prevent me from going.
Well, will definitely be at GenCon from Wed on, but uncertain as to which I'll
be participating. My intentions of a kill the supership scenerio remains mere
intentions. If a separate attendee mail list gets started, PLEASE include me.
devans@uneb.edu works. Most of the time. *blush*
Would love to break bread with you all, but as a devout slob, the only tie I
own is a weird knit thing I was going to use in a TOS Romulan costume for my
daughter when she was a wee thing.(' Captain DAME Megan Evans', remember? I've
since been informed that Dame is the equivalent to Sir, not Lady. Came from my
FORMER Anglophile gf. It's amazing how disillusioning a few viewings of
Braveheart(yes, she knows the historical flaws), Sins of the Father, and
Michael Collins can make a diehard.) Let me know of any less rigorous venues
for other meals.
Gee, been trying to figure stuff even further off topic, but drawing a blank.

I don't know yet, though this is one that I plan on playing.

Actually no (BattleStar minis are tough to find). It is a more recent show
that was not named after a ship (and I can get a mini of the main ship).

Great! (now I just have to make sure all these different types of fleets are
balanced.)

Yup, expect the unexpected in this game.

Sure, bring your minis. It will be tough for us to provide enough minis for
the 16 fleets in the first round.
> Star Blazers (I'll bring that chart that makes mass attacks easier to
Please do, I need a copy of this chart.
> Also we Mailing List participants should consider where we will meet
Thats the one with the midevail theme and suits of armor everywhere. It would
be nice to get there this year. If you could look into basic arraingments (tie
required?, reservations) so we can maybe all decide if and when that first
day.
> We could also go to that BBQ place on Water Street, like last year.
Yup, its time to start planning the FTGZG list member invasion of Milwaukee.
Will there be a list member game like last year? Who else is planning to
attend GenCon?

This is still a cool idea, but I think--like last year--organizing it
will be difficult. It's hard to squeeze in a game with so much stuff going on.
And I'm running the SG2 game at the same time we played the mailing list game
last year. Could be done, though! What do others think?

I can handle that.

The Milwaukee Brewhouse. It can be hard to get in at times, but the food's
good. I'd have no problems with this place (I'll be there a couple of times
anyway, I'm sure).

This sounds good, too! I'm a carnivore and proud of it!

I wouldn't have a problem with this, but--yeah--timing (and
transportation) could be a problem. I'm easy. I'll go along with the crowd.
Unfortunately I wont be able to make it this year... nobody to drive with or
share a room with to help defray the costs
maybe next year

Hmmm... If I can get my father's blessing. I could get the use of his
mini-van. Then we can arrange a pick up point, crowd as many bodies in
as possible, and go from there.

That's got possibilities. Timing is still an issue (especially if people have
a game in the next slot) but it would be cool. We just bought a CR-V, so
I could take another 3 or 4 people without a problem.
I have just one question... When exactly is GenCon? =(

Well, what day/time is everyone getting here? The ideal day to

extra day off (that is if I'm still working a crummy night shift.)

August 6-9
