It's me again, guys...

Since the formatting was so crappy, I figured I would fix the looks
of it and send this again. If this is a nettiquete no-no, please let
me know...

Is there a concise listing of modern and sci-fi miniatures manufacturers
out there? As of right now, these are the ones I know of:

Geo-Hex (of course!)

Ral Partha's Battletech figures (tho' I guess it is mostly mech's, since the
vehicles seem to me to big for the DS II scale...

Stone Mountain Miniatures (6mm and 25mm (they seem to specialize in historical
models, tho'...)

Stan Johansen (Modern at 20mm, Sci-Fi at 1/300th and 25mm)

Reviresco (25mm, with aliens and robots - the drawings weren't very
promising, tho'), and...

Perhaps Lance and Laser, but it seems they discontinued their Star Corps
series (25mm)

Any others? Anyone with experience with this models/manufacturers?
BTW, 1/300th is the same as 6mm, right?

Also, where do you guys buy your mini's? It's very hard for me to get GZG
stuff here in Minneapolis, and it is also very expensive (even if it is priced
competitively at 3 minis for $6.00, that still adds up to $12.00 per 6 man
squad...). I've seen the one.sig in the list, but are there any other discount
shops like that on the internet?

Thank you guys!!!

I think Tom G is putting together, or has put together, a webpage with
this information - and is looking for contributions! Such as your list.

Superior Models' Starfleet Wars is back out again, but so far only through
special order through William Char/Game Masters that I know of. You can
view what's available at:

    http://www.stellargames.com

I just got my 30-ship order today. I'm verra happy with them. I have
some ships (mostly Terran) from ~15 years ago when they were first out (has it
really been that long??) and they haven't changed (ie, I picked up a few
duplicates:). Nice detail, good size (my god the SGDs are HUGE!!!!!)

This isn't the 25mm stuff, nor 6mm - 1/300th scale stuff; this is more
FT scale.

Maybe if this goes well William will be able to start carrying the MAATAC line
of tanks again (which I'd like to see; never saw 'em before)

I think so, yeah.

> Also, where do you guys buy your mini's? It's very hard for me to get

I get the bulk of my stuff either through mail-order (via friends :) hi
jim!)
or through The Armory, a local gameshop and games warehouse/distributor.
This is mostly starship minis and Future Wars tanks, btw. I'm only slowly
breaking into 25mm stuff.

I use the Ralpartha figs, Mostly Von Luckners, PAtton Rommels and Schreck PPC
Carriers. I also have three Long Toms.

The VLs and PRs make great size 5 super heavy tanks. The Schrecks make
excellent Medium SP Guns (size 4). And well the Long Tom, is probably about
the heaviest looking Heavy Gun I've been able to find. The attached tender
section makes it an excellent modular vehicle. Tractor section has the size 6
heavy artillery piece and the trailer section has the ammunition reloads. It
comes out as a little expensive, 938 points. Though that varies according to
the ammunition load.

I also use an Ontos modified with lots of antenna and a small radar dish
looking object as a super heavy C4I center.

Steve Jackson Games made some really good fixed place howiters. They are sadly
out of print now. The smaller scale models also make good light artillery.

30 ships!!! 8O That must have left a nice hole in your wallet! At least it was
well spent.:) I hope to get mine soon as well. I'm just waiting to get a group
order together to cut down on shipping costs.

'Hole' is an understatement. ;-} Can't quite go around doing that
again any time too soon.

15 ships next time. ;-)

> At least it

Yah, well spent. :-) For the *moment* I have enough ships to see
me through the weekend...

(of course if anyone feels the need to donate ships, my door is always open:)

Two more to add to the list are:

GW (unfortunately). They DO make some very nice mini for people looking for a
more fanciful flavour to their games. Both 25mm and 6mm.

SimTac/Kryomek Holdings Inc. They have their entire 25mm Kryomek range
out again which should provide nice aliens and humans as well as
pre-fabricated
buildings and vehicles. Highly recommended.

If i may, i recomond www.riders.com, its a local chain of hobby shops in the
detroit area, there web site has an extremily large selection of well
everthing, and the offer via internet ordering with RSA encryption and most
major credit cards.
while i can't vouch for there internet-ordering system (i usually just
drive down to the store), i can vouch for the company, i shop there regularly
and have never had any prolbems with there service, tho the
selection in the stores tends to be White wolf/TSR/GW/pallidum
dominated, i suppose thats what sells, and the store does have to stay in
business, and they usually special order stuff for me anyhow

As long as you take care to follow the cardinal rule of dealing with GW: Never
buy anything fron 'em at full retail price, they're great, if a tad bit
cartoony.
Some of their epic stuff is down-right awesome.
I love the Squat VTOL thingies (Iron Eagles IIRC) and some of the Eldar stuff
truly rocks..... No GW bargain bin is safe from me!!

> <<SimTac/Kryomek Holdings Inc. They have their entire 25mm Kryomek

I've never really liked the Kryomek stuff, but all I've seen are some of the
vehicles (looked too squat and small) and
some bio-zoidal terrain bits. Does anyone know of a place on the 'net
that has pictures of other Kryomek bits?

I agree that the vehicle for it were pretty horrible, but some of the
buildings were pretty good and the minis themselves are, on the whole, some of
the best I have ever seen. Especially the Talos units. The only place I know
of with piccies of their stuff is at:

        http://www.aloha.com/~isaac/impy.htm

But they are pretty fuzzy pics. Shame really.
