Subject: [Fwd: From the personal effects of K'rrt]

The Kra'Vak Commander from our Historicon writes his AAR.... The following are
the latest entries from the logs of commander K'rrt, commanding the 18th
Kra'Vak Scout Fleet from his flagship, W'Zsl. The widow of K'rrt submitted
these to the Kra'Vak high command after his court martial and execution.n His
return, his court martial and his execution took place last endday.

980721 - halfday

Our long distance sensors have picked up another anomalous reading. I believe
it is coming from these F'shan that I have been hearing about. I have
submitted my findings to the High Command along with a request for all
additional data concerning the F'shanites but have not received a response.

980722 - startday

Still no word from High Command. If my own clan leader were not in charge, I
would suspect some attempt at tainting my honor. The delay is intolerable. I
have ordered the fleet into Stalk and am keeping my warriors in control. I had
to execute one of the damage control officers during this morning's meeting
when he suggested that we return home with our findings and submit them in
person.

980722 - halfday

Still no news but more sensor readings. My scientists on board have gotten
enough data to provide me with a threat assessment as well as an abbreviated
tactical doctrine for encounter. I am reviewing this data. I am also sending a
stealth probe in. It should arrive in nearly 12 kr'kks.

980722 - endday

The stealth probe arrived in-system and started a tight beam
transmission of data. These F'shan have a comparable technology to our own.
They have Faster Than Light capability and are now intending to colonize this
system. I have sent a high priority message to high command requesting
authorization to attack and disable their ships for examinations. I fully
intend to make the attack with or without their permission.

980723 - startday

I ahve given up hope for any sort of timely response from High Command. They
are probably sitting on their spotted tentacles eating fresh R'quit. How I
hate the diplomatic caste. They are an infection on our race. The probe has
gone inert and stopped transmitting. I am ordering
a drop in-system after the lateday meal. We will see what the F'shan
have in the way of weapons systems. 6 of my Vo'bok Light Cruisers will change
from Stalk to Confront.

980723 - lateday

My Hunters are enroute.

980723 - endday

The last lifepods of the encounter with the F'shan have rejoined the fleet.
They have reported that they were with strong resistance but made their
presence known. Several of the F'shanite ships were destroyed. Fortunately,
the data that these survivors have brought back to me is of enough value to
let them live. The tactics of the F'shan are similiar to our own. They tried
to maintain optimum ranging for their weapons as did my own warriors. I
consider the ships that I have lost this day to be a good investment for the
good of all Kra'Vak. Tomorrow, I finish the F'shan.

980724 - startday

I order the fleet into Confront. We are entering the system where the
surviving F'shan have fled. Large radioactive asteroids in this system have
left long range probes useless.

980724 - halfday

The battle is not going well for us. It seems that the F'shan have killercraft
on a par with our own. Sadly, our rail guns were unable to target them and my
own killercraft were too slow in returning to prevent grievous damage to my
flagship. The W'Zsl has suffered greatly but will not survive. My warriors
have fought most bravely. The battle dragged on and we maintained the
offensive for quite some time but the damage control parties were just too
ineffective to keep us in battle. I am transferring command to one of my
Hunters as my command center is shattered. With many regrets, I order the
fleet into Flee.

At least I have the data to present to the High Command. Damn their red hides
for their inaction.
