Laserlight: If your wash is too thin, you can wash again. If too thick....
repaint figure. I'd err on the side of thin to start with. 1:15 sounds real
thin mind you....
MPs (quote Ryan, paraphrase similarly Flak):
Standard uniforms plus shoulder tabs/brassards or arm bands.
Okay, guys, you didn't quite answer my question (as far as I could tell). Both
the Camouflage BDU and garrison dress are standard uniforms in most armies.
Which "standard" uniform did you mean?
Answer for: 1) MPs doing peacekeeping (directing traffic, etc): weapons?
uniform? 2) MPs doing LEA at home or on a mostly peaceful base: weapons?
uniform?
3) MPs doing rear-area security in a hot conflict: weapons? uniform?

Both. What are they wearing? No 2 Dress? Or are they wearing combat fatigues.
Or something else?

Combat weapons and gear plus something to indicate to all around that they are
MPs and should be attended to.

One has to suspect there are some similarities between NAC uniforms and
current Numbers of uniform dress for different units. No 1 being super formal.
No2 being mostly formal, etc.

Likley just like 1.
BY LEA, do you mean DLO?
Discipline, law and order mission?
i think i answered your question plus here is some more food for thought.
MP BATALIONS and companies are organized according to mission for TOE.
the most familiar MP unit to soldiers and civilians is the garrison, post or
station TOE company (seen looking pretty and riding about in sedans in the
States and Europe in as late as the 60s and 70s, and maybe even now.
escort units are set up for motor or rivrine escorts.
escort guards are dismounted and used for providing escort bods for trainins,
motor convoys, and POWs.
guard companies are for physical security assignments (installations, ports,
etc).
divisional MPs do it all.
corps level MPs (groups) do it all. these are usually numbered battalions with
4 or more lettered MP companies lus an HQ company.
independent companies (numbers, not letters) can be found assigned TOE for any
functions.
companies of any type can be found operating as platoon or squad level
independent commands for junior officers and squad leaders.
and ALL MPS HAVE THE MAGIC EXPANDOMATIC TOE OF ENDLESS ADD-ONS!
the basic MP squad in the 60s in thr RVN, States, Korea, and Germany
was built around a squad leader and 12 MPs, with 3 - 4 ea jeeps (and
trailers), 3-4 LMGs. 3-4 GLs, 3-4 SAWs, 9 rifles and 13 pistols. also
3-4 AN/VRC-46 radios, 2 AN/PRC-25 radios.
an independent squad might find itself with an additional 3/4 ton truck
(and trailer), a 3/4 ton truck (with water tanker) and a 2.5 ton truck
(with trailer) plus a commo maintenance detachment of 1 or 2 men, maybe a
vehicle maintenance detachment of 1 or 2 mechanics and at least 1 or more
radio base station setups also impedimentia like tents, typewriters, field
phones, rations, and etc. power generator and fuel
tanker plus another 3/4 ton or 2.5 ton truck to tow this.
a really remote squad might even have a medic assigned!
platoon had 4 squads, sometimes 6, as above, with a 5-10 HQ led by a LT
thru CPT and a SFC. add 3 ea 3/4 ton jeeps (with trailers), 2 ea 3/4
trucks (with trailers), and a 2.5 ton truck (with trailer). one triler would
be replaced with a water tanker. a generator, fuel tanker, and tow vehicle
too.
3/4 came with LMG, 2.5 trucks with .50-cal HMG.
additional weapons would include LAWs (as many as you wanted), 90mm RR
or 3.5" RL (1-2 per platoon), hand grenades, tear gas grenades, claymore
mines, flares, flare launchers and starcluster launchers come to mind without
breaking a sweat mentally.
later companies, platoons and squads working the highways got V-100
armored cars in addition to all other vehicles. usually 1 per squad in a
platoon, and 2 per squad in a squad detachment.
sentry dog and scout dog detachments provided rear area security (sentry dogs)
and worked with the infantry (scout dogs).
hope this also helps.
OH. and each MP detachment had a PMO and at least one D-cell (made from
a conex container) for holding prisoners for up to 48 hours max.
