Playing FT here in Japan, I have felt a need for a more detailed history of
what Japan is doing. It is mentioned here and there in brief, but I haven't
been able to find any information on specifics. Japanese (wet) navy us
mentioned, and "japanese corporate" forces exist as figures. But do they have
a planet? Are they allied with anyone? When did they do anything in
particular? Do they have any of their own fleet designs? Or even have a fleet?
Do Hitachi and Mitsubishi still make the best military vessels?
If anyone has any information, I'd sure love to hear about it.
Thanks.

i'm not aware of any extra canonical information on Japan, or of any work done
by the community at large. we (the listites) have mechanisms in place whereby
people with an interest in a power which is not detailed in canon sources can
develop stuff for it (history, military details, etc) and make it known; i
don't think anything has surfaced via this route, so i would guess there isn't
anything major.
there is an SG2 OOB for some Japanese corporate troops, produced by Owen
Glover:

no, Royal Schelde do!:)

my little list has Nathan Pettigrew down as taking care of Japan, but i don't
know if he's still interested. if not, you can take the plunge and work some
stuff up yourself; the list has had a few discussions touching on Japan, but i
don't think we ever came to any concrete conclusions.

Make it up. ;-)
The only extra details regarding Japanese corporations I've seen is off the
Stargrunt site:

Hope this helps.

Yes, but you missed the correct spelling, it's properly "REYNOLDS CONSORTIUM".
See the sales office in Alarish System, Amud Esh orbit, leading Trojan point,
for details.
Weyland Corp (trailing Trojans) might disagree with you, though,
and Thyssen-Krupp Kreigsmarine Interessengemeinschaft (or
something similar, someone who actually knows German please correct me here)
might also.

The only mentions of Japan re the OU are as follows:
Some Funny Stuff went down during the immediate discovery of FTL. It's
known some joint OU/Japanese expeditions were mounted far earlier than
most people realise, and that they've gone further than the UN would like. But
without colonist backup, just surveying missions, and mostly
to unlikely-looking M-class stars. At least one of which "Harry's
Ghetto" was named by a mistransaltion from Japanese.
Japan is a major trading partner with the OU, in fact, the biggest. A
significant proportion of the OU's exports are Gravitic motors for
Kawasaki-Shimbun gravbikes.
Japan has a number of Industrial R&D bases in OU M-class systems.
Usually industrial or hi-tech agricultural, but sometimes not. In any
I know Nathan Pettigrew was doing some work on a Japan background for FT.
I'm not sure if he's still into it, though. From pre-FTL days, there's a
canon relationship with Japan and the Gilderstein foundation, which I took
forward in time to develop into good relationships between NI and Japan. Some
New Israeli fleet designs are collaborations with Japan
(Sheir/Karakau,
Maccabee/Samurai, Mac-II/Ronin). Bits of of background are peppered
