It looks like an up-dated version of Simpkin's Pod concept. Mechanized Battlefield, English ed., Brassey's 1985, isbn 0-08-025405-5. Note that Simpkin's original work that this article was based on was published in the 70's; I forget the title and it is not in my library, but I read it back in the late 80's.
