Subject: Full Thrust rules and where to get them

Greetings, I'm interested in playing Full Thrust and need some help on where
to buy the current Full Thrust rulebook and the Full Thrust Fleet Book Volume
1. I know about gzg.com but would like to get it somewhere state side. Also,
what is the latest version of the rule book? Is it the second edition? Is
there a new version on the horizon? Thanks for the help.

Well, there isn't a U.S. distributor. Unless you happen across a store online
that sells them, you're going to have to order from Britain.

I've ordered from GZG to both here in Louisiana and to Toronto, Ontario. The
turn around was nothing short of awesome. I ordered on a Monday and had
delivery on the Thursday in Louisiana, and once had delivery on the Wednesday
in Toronto.

When the products were produced/distributed by GeoHex here in the
States, it was still cheaper to buy directly from GZG. When Geo-Hex
closed their doors, I looked at buying some DSII stuff at their 20% off rate.
Only then was the price matching the cost from Britain, and that included
shipping.

I would just bite the bullet and order from the U.K., unless you don't have
access to a credit card. (This is something I don't think Jon takes into
account. In some places in the U.S. it's virtually impossible to get a money
order in Pounds Sterling, or any other currency for that matter.)

The current version of the rule book is the 2nd edition, except that large
chunks of the rules have been superceded in the Fleet Books. For the full
version of the rules, as they are now, you need the Full Thrust rule book and
at least Fleet Book 1. An FT3 will be produced sometime in the future, but no
idea when. The old More Thrust book is out of print, but available from the
GZG web site as a free download.

Generally FT rule books aren't very available in the USA, but as many American
gamers can attest the service from GZG in the UK is often both
faster and cheaper than from a mail-order house in the USA.

The current version of the rules is Full Thrust Second Edition plus both
Fleet Books - Fleet Book 1 replaced the ship design system and made
several other important changes, some of which were refined in Fleet Bool 2.

There is muttering about a new version, but this is not likely to happen any
time soon. Even when it does, the Fleet Books will still be useful
as lists of pre-designed ships.

Hope this helps,

1) Editions:

You will find that Full Thrust is referred to as FTII; this is second edition,
and while there are at least a couple of printings with a few errors in the
first run(s?), it's basically one book. If you ever find an FTI, I'd be
interested in paying a small, ok VERY small, fortune to obtain.

I THINK the errors are cleared on the FAQ.

The Fleet Books, especially FBI, I wonder if phrase that will get pulled by
some Homeland Security filter, suggested enough changes that they are together
sometimes nicknamed FT2.5.

2) Sources:

I know stores have them, but it's hard to find, and I've not found an online
order place that lists 'em. I've a set of books I'm considering putting on
eBay, as there are plenty of used copies amongst friends IF I ever get them
playing again. However, I was going to list it as 'the complete FT', with
FTII, MT, FBI, FBII, and even The Babylon Five Project:
Earthforce Sourcebook. I wasn't going to mention Power Projection. ;->=

Well, I see most of this has been covered, but as I've typed it all in, I'm
sending!

Like the man said, bite the bullet!

Oh, you do know that More Thrust, out of print, is available as a download.

That Jon... What a class act...
