Hello

Have people found the Kra'Vak to be balanced?

One group I met said that they thought they were too powerful while the one
game we played, the Kra'Vak got stomped.

Can the Scattergun be used as an anti-missile weapon?

If not that would seem like a major weakness in this race (it was a couple of
missile cruisers that shut down the Kra'Vak in the earlier game, that and the
Kra'Vak player let the grubby humans hit his force piece meal).

What strategies have other people used in dealing with the Kra'Vak?

I'm thinking missiles and heavy fighters by the ton.

I can't seem to find the points cost for the Sa'Vasku ships, could someone
help me out here?

I found that the Kra'Vak are quite well balanced in fact. (Ducks the flying
debris that the rest of the news group hurl at him) Really. Either I just have
good luck fighting them or the Kra'Vak player at our club is rotten with them
or they really are balanced.

I personally don't see why not (and I don't play Kra'Vak, they smell ;-)
).

Lots of Escort and Cruiser size ships with Thrust rating of at least 6. Beat
him at his own game. While your ships aren't as manouverable as his, you'll
still be pretty good at it and it'll give him the complete s**ts. the premise
behind this is to be manouverable enough to be able to keep out of his arcs of
fire. Also the smaller ships mean he'll have too many targets to keep track
of, and you normally don't bother putting shields on small ships so there's no
wasted space there and the Kra'Vak player can'rt whinge at you saying "you
took all the shields off your ships, that's not fair!!". Also Wave Guns and
Nova Cannons in multiples (I have designed a 46 Mass Capital ship with a Nova
Cannon and some PDAFs. Three or four of them just sit at the back of the table
and lob Nova Cannon templates around while the rest of my fleet sits still and
waits. Try dodging four templates per turn (especially when they get
bigger!)!! A bit cheesy I know, but fun as a once off thing!)

Missiles, yes. Fighters get SHREDDED by Scat-packs so you'd need heaps
(more than 20 squadrons of the suckers) to even get close to hurting his
ships.

There aren't any yet. But there's been plenty of tries at it on the this
group.

them, and boy did they find a way, a shitload of missles in my face. Well
needles to say I lost all games after that then I suggested that the kra'vak
dont have any point defense systems, so we decided to use scatter guns as pdf,
it helps a little but not alot.

Really? My thought was that once the Scats were gone (they are one shots after
all) one fighter squadron and some patience could destroy an entire Kra'Vak
fleet. I thought the heavy fighters would be ideal for this (extra
survivability).

By the way, what would be considered a "large" fleet battle?

I just bought a model of DS9 (that star trek thing) that measures about 40cm
across and looks great beside my FT models, it actually "looks" to scale
(although I'm sure the "actual" scale is way off). So, what is the largest
Station anyone has designed? Every time I sit down to work on one I get a
little dizzy;)

Have any points systems been more accepted than others? Could someone (re)
post them, if that would not be too much of a pain of course.

Has anyone come up with campaign rules for Full Thrust?

I'm sorry about all these silly newby type questions, but I just got to
ask. :)

Give this one a try;)

(please keep the heckling to a minimum, folks)

Mini Death Star

Military Space Station (FTL capable)

Mass: 1000 Thrust: 1 Damage Points: 500 AA Megabattery: 16 (4 in each of 4
arcs)
Tri-arc A batteries: 32 (4 banks of 8 covering 4 arcs)
Tri-arc B batteries: 40 (4 banks of 10 covering 4 arcs)
Tri-arc C batteries: 50 (2 banks of 12; 2 banks of 13)
PDAF: 20 ADAF: 6 Screens: 3 Fighter Groups (normal): 20 Nova Cannon: 1
Superior Sensors: 1 Area ECM: 3 Extra Damage Control Parties: 22 (for a total
of 44)

Can launch all 20 fighters at once.

Point cost: 7251

I know this is not accurate for the SW setting, but it was sure fun to create.
And yes, I have actually created a sheet for it.

I have designed the Death Star out of the Tech Manual on a one for one.
(spreadsheets are good...I think ours is the best designed to date)

Death Star (I won't bore you with the particulars)

Mass: 110,000 Points: 850,258

Big enough for ya?

I don't know about space stations, but after various discussions involving
Star Wars ships I finally got around to finishing my
designs for a Star Destroyer - mass 1600, points approx 13,200.

See http://www.bifrost.demon.co.uk/StarWars/SW.html for the design.
(click on the Star Destroyer pictures for the stat sheets - I
haven't got around to do one for the Victory class yet though).

How many sheets of paper do you need for the damage boxes then?:)

Shouldn't that be sheets?;) Looks interesting, but how would you represent the
close assaults by fighter (surface strafing, trench runs, etc.)?
