Hi All,
I am a newbie on the list, so please correct me if I break protocol. I've been
skimming the archives off and on for a few years, but until recently, I had
been unable to sign in to the list due to technical problems (thanks again for
the help Roger).
Has anyone worked up Full Thrust house rules involving fuel consumption and
use of supply ship tankers? If this topic has already been kicked around, just
tell me the month and year so I can find it in the archives.
Honored to join the crowd.
Thanks,
Hi Jacob,

Back at GZG-ECC II, there was an event run called 'Solar Thrust',
which modeled fuel consumption using variant FT rules. I don't remember if the
Real Thrust conversions were ever posted to the main list though, and I'm not
sure Keith Watt is still on the list to talk about it.
Thanks, JGH

Keith left the northeast to work out in Arizona, so he's not been at the ECC
convention for a number of years. His Solar Thrust games were quite good,
running one in ECC II and another at ECC III.
Check out his web page at: http://www.exodusproject.com/
He uses fuel for thrust expenditures and more physics focused
weapons systems for his ships, such as missiles with X-Ray
laser warheads and short range laser or kinetic weapons.
And welcome to the list, BTW. It's nice to have you aboard.

Yes, welcome indeed. I've been on-list for DSII for a while, but am
much newer to FT. Where are you located? (Hoping for a local adversary).

Keith's website is The Exodus Project (don't recall the exact URL but
http://users.erols.com/kwatt/SolarThrust/
The URL for his website is no longer working. Sadly I did not archive any of
the rules either.

BTW, Keith is, in my book, a Living God of scenario design. His Solar Thrust:
Desperate Measures was
hands-down the most enjoyable scenario I have ever
played at a convention. He managed to make a five-way
firefight work out well, and caused some really nifty interactions between the
players. The deciding point of the scenario was the Mercutian (me) commander
negotiating a functioning alliance with the Vestans
via tight-beam communications. Very much fun.
Google doens't have it in cache, so no joy there.

Here's some rules I use in my FT campaign - they're for FT2 so you'll
need to tweak them for Fleet Book rules
Each vessel requires fuel equal to its Class by ½ its Thrust Rating.
Thrust: 2 4 6 8
Escort 1 2 3 4
Cruiser 2 4 6 -
Capital 3 6 - -
Vessels must be refueled after an engagement. If for some reason a Vessel is
not refueled then its effective Thrust is halved.
Refueling Vessels can siphon fuel from Gas Giants, transport the fuel and
refuel ships. These vessels can hold points equal to 40% of their mass
This affects tactical movement only, I don't require refueling after
strategic movement, either in-system or FTL.
Glad to have you on board Jacob
Thanks to everyone for the warm reception.

Not the reception your forces will get, I'll bet. ;-)

Damn, another easterner. Got my hopes up too soon.

I'm in the same boat here.

Thanks Donogh, that's the keep it simple type of idea I was looking for.

Thanks Jon. At first glance Keith's approach appears to be more complicated
that I was looking for, but I relish the opportunity to feast on such a
banquet of information.
Also thanks to everyone else who put me on the trail to Keith's site.
I sent Keith a summary of ECC; he replied:
