Vac-heads,

Version 1.0 of the archive is complete:

http://members.nbci.com/noam_izenberg/Weap-Def_Archive.htm

It includes: 59 Weapon designs, 16 defensive systems, 11 Fighter variations, 7
FireCon types, 12 SV systems (all pods), and 8 (mainly combat) rules mods.

The archive is _not_ a thorough cull of the GZG-List archive, and is
probably far from complete in other aspects as well. I have looked through
quite a few websites and at least recent list discussions. I'll be watching
the list as well as I can in the future, but if there are glaring omissions or
other historical items to include, please let me know. I would rather not
inculde 8 versions of the Narn Energy Mine, for example. If I get 3 or more
of the same thing, I'll probably condense/convolve them into one or two,
summarizing the main similarities and differences in design.

Now that we have so much in one place, I was thinking of starting a
semi-regular (depending on how much interest discussion each engenders)
"Weapon of the Week" post - basically taking one system from the archive
and
throwing it out to the list for commentary/balance/consensus, then
editing the entry in the archive accordingly. What say all?

I'd much, much, much rather come to consensus on what's already out there,
than keep throwing out new halfbaked ideas and watching them vanish.

I'm having a little trouble understanding your objection, Chris. Noam is
suggesting discussing things already suggested, and then evaluating them here.

Or, are you saying you'd prefer limiting the discussion on the list to JUST
items already in the rules?

Not arguing against, just trying to understand.

Probably a good idea, so I'll try and reign in the couple of dozen
half-baked ideas that I _haven't_ posted yet :-)

It wasn't an objection, it was applause.

And I'm feeling a large L burning it's way into my forehead. ;->=

Applause noted and seconded!

Can't be me, I go for accuracy and impact, not style. If you feel (very, very
briefly) a 40 megawatt gamma ray laser, that's me.

Well, I tend to use the 'basics' in any rules set unless the nation/race
is tailored then I follow that trend, but I would like to see that. A lot of
work on your part but the results should be "Wow!"

You don't have to be French to be a 'frog', or even human!
Nektons - Real Marines!
Starguard, Dirtside 2, Ratner's Space Marines, Stellar Conflicts
and Uprisings, and Full Thrust/2nd. Resistance is everything!
