Can I ask a quick question? You've got two UN ships in one photo. Front looks
the same but the engine sections are different. Are these actually separate
models or is it down to you not sticking a couple of the engines on the
smaller one?

Cancel my previous comments about having enough unpainted metal already.

The two engined ship is a superdreadnought SDN and the four engined
one is an extended range superdreadnought (SDN-X).

Having seen these ships in the flesh (so to speak) on Saturday and
having bought the SDN-X, I can say that they look every bit as
wonderful as the photos suggest.

I'd say that the SDNs aren't as big as some people have thought (judging by
the suggested stats posted earlier). Visually comparing them with the Jeanne
D'Arc in the next display case, I'd say that the
SDN-X wouldn't be a lot more massive and the SDN may be slightly
smaller. And presumably the extra mass on the SDN-X would fuel,
supplies, etc. rather than weaponry.

The 4-engine big chap is the SDN-X Sol class (FT1112A), the 2-engine is
the
SDN Gaia-class (FT1112). £9.95 and £7.95 respectively.

I second that, yes :-) But since I spent *way* too much money at SELWG
anyway, I didn't buy them - the IF squadron, NSL CVL and the Irregular
not-Klingons was quite enough starship-wise <g>

Indeed, since the UNSC SDNs are relatively "skinny" I'd rate them at about the
same Mass as the NSL Von Tegetthoff or Der Theuerdank. The overall lengths and
widths of the models are large, but the individual sections are rather slender
and most of the impression of size comes
from the X-wing.

Yes. In game terms, this Mass would be mostly cargo holds - or extra
engines, making the SDN thrust 2 and the SDN-X thrust 4 :-/
