Greetings, Since Sa'Vasku can pump extra power into a Stinger shot for extra
damage, is there a reason to have overlapping arcs (other than redundancy for
loss to threshold checks or needle attacks)?

Two reasons I can think of. The one you specified above and to be able to fire
at more than one target in the appropriate arc during the same turn. As I
understand the rule a particular Stinger may channel any amount of energy but
it may only fire at one target a turn.

Thank you. I had forgotten about multiple targets in the same arc. I guess
that I am too used to concentrating my fire. See what blind spots we
develop when we don't have a wide choice of opponents. ;-)

Ah...so we're going to try blaming it on your opponents lack of tactical
variance ehhhh. ;-)

Seriously though that's why the mailing list is such a great resource. Heaven
knows I tend to concentrate my fire too, but through watching the opposing
sides fire and noticing damage overkill from concentrated fire recently, being
in the end a wake up call to start consider not applying too much overkill
that could be useful elsewhere. That and having a number of smaller ships on
each side really demonstrates this issue (it's amazing how much meaningful
firepower is wasted when FF, DD, and CL take twice as much damage or more than
they had hull boxes to start with).
