Adobe 'help' mentions doing something with 'Tiles', but doesn't seem to be
there with the Acrobat plugin. However, after setting the display at
100%,
I used the Graphics Select Tool to copy the map, and paste it in *horrors*
Paint, which can do multi-page quite well, thank you very much, Bob's
your uncle.

Stupid Paint can't remember between sessions that I consider.75 inch
border excessive, so it's TOO easy to get multi-page, but, if I keep my
wits about me, I too can have the impressive map impressively across six
pages.

Sometimes you DO have to work with stone knives and animal skins to get
anything done.

Winchell, thanks for the images!

Oh, quick question: these still exclude class M? Forgive me for not being able
to tell just by looking.

Anything not on the map belongs to the AE and/or OU :-)

Hmm... still gives us plenty of 'real estate' to hide our dirty, rotten
secrets. The one's we say are 'out there', hand wave, but don't necessarily
want beyond the map. I like it.

I always figured my Texaco Free Traders were beyond the 'rim', but it's not
impossible that the high-tritrium gas giants that brought the company to
it's zenith are circling burnt embers that never quite got to blowing them
away...

Exactly.

The main reason for "the OU claims all the useless M type stars" is so
that no-one would get sneaky and start making secret naval bases "off
map" in out-of-the-way places. They *all* get visited by OU patrol
vessels, putting out navigational, SAR and R&D satellites and such like.

A naval base can be constructed, the OU hasn't got the resources to interfere,
but it won't be a secret.

And if Side A's Naval Base gets constructed, usually the OU will offer
some anti-pirate and security patrols in Side B's hinterland, so side B
can come and beat up on it with the forces so released.

The OU can't stop anyone grabbing any of its claimed territory: but

Nightvision class fast recon corvettes, often with "Imperial University
Astronomical Survey" painted on the side.

Well, we might con$ider keeping a $ecret. Not often, but in $pecial ca$e$,
it'$ $omething we'd at lea$t be willing to di$cu$$.

No, just the normal "Freemantle" class Patrol ships. The ones that you can't
tell whether they're fast but unarmed patrol vessels, cargo
carriers, or very tough ultra-light cruisers, as they can change their
configuration. And there's LOTS of them.

Of course, they do drop off "survey drones", "navigational beacons" and the
like, all of which have recording apparatus in. Most of which advertise their
position. Only comparatively few monitor the other satellites with passive
sensors, and look just like small chunks of space debris. The problem with
those is finding them again, even if you know where to look.

Seriously, they do a lot of good science, very long baseline
(multiparsec) arrays and such. Late data, but knowing most/all FTL
transitions that happened within 60 LY 60 years ago is useful. It does
help when trying to find things like KV homeworlds - oops, did I just
say that? No good for tactical use, but good strategic recon.

It's interesting the various satellites that some powers have been detected
placing in out of the way places. Since the KV revealed
themselves, there's been a low-scale battle going on, the side that
placed first gets to detect where the other side placed their stealth
drones, and so on. Lots of examples of small-scale actions, ambushes and

the like.
Plenty of opportunities for battles involving 1-2 ships, asteroid belts
to hide the stealth birds in, trying to capture the other side's technology...
I always try to make my PSB serve the game.

You might very well think that, I couldn't po$$ibly comment. Well $potted.
I'll have to be more $ubtle next time though.

Oops-- didn't mean to imply that Nightvisions were OU ships, they're an
AE design. Although of course we're willing to sell ships, and in some cases
design templates (eg to the NRE).
