Subject: [FT] Simple EW
I see many complicated systems for EW that look neat, but that 1 hour lunch break doesn't allow that much complexity. What we are going to try is this Visual ID and all info on ship: 0-12 (basing this on the fact that a needle beam can pick out targets) Civilian Sensors 0-12 ship mass 12-24 targetting info Military Sensors 0-12 ship ID 12-24 ship mass 24-36 targetting info Enhanced sensors (1 mass) shift this up one, so: 0-24 ship ID 24-36 ship mass 36-48 targetting info Superior sensors (2 mass) shift up another one so: 0-36 ship ID 36-48 ship mass 48-60 targetting info ECM requires 5% of the ships mass, 1 mass minimum It has two modes: Mode 1, "hide mode" Reduces the range brackets by 1, so Standard Military sensors are: 0-12 ship mass 12-24 targetting info Mode 2, "mimic mode" In ranges where sensors may detect mass a ship using mimicry EW may increase it's apparent mass by 50 for each mass of the ECM system. Both detection and ECM systems cost 5 per mass of the system. No die rolls, quick and easy. Does it all sound plausible?
