Subject: [FT] Re: Ship Names
<And another lurker decloaks and fires a salvo...> As far as naming ships, I sometimes use Science Fiction authors, too, but I frequently use the Famous Game Designer class - if I need to name each ship in a fleet, I pick up a rulebook from my collection and start writing down names. Examples: THE GAME DESIGNER CLASS STARSHIP: Tuffley Jackson Irby Zocchi St.Andre Gygax Arneson Jones Seropian Wells Dever Paige Pondsmith Garfield (Kudos if you recognize them all...) I recently did this for a text file that's been growing on my computer - a collection of all the different ship classes I've made or found on the 'net. (Useful - if I need a 217 point CAT [Heavy Torpedo Cruiser] I just do a text search). I needed names for the "Standard" classes that come in FT and MT, so I opened the books to the credits page and just started writing down artists, playtesters, designers, or other games mentioned... (Tuffley class CVH, Copeland class CC, Hellfire class DDG, etc.) <Cloaking mode reactivated, the lurker vanishes into the ether...>
