So, I'm actually getting my brother hooked on playing Full Thrust more
regularly (Thank you for the online copies of FB1+2, I actually feel bad
because I was trying to find them to buy for him for his birthday awhile
back.) But I remember way back when there was a website that had randomly
generated scenarios. The attacker and defender rolled a die to see what their
setup and objectives would be. You could end up with a tiny force against a
big force, but with objectives more complex than just blow up the other guy.
(Kind of like the scenario cards for SG at stargrunt.ca:
http://www.stargrunt.ca/scenarios_aar/sg2_scenario_cards/sg2_scenario_ca
rds.htm)

But I can't find the webpage they were on. Does it still exist? Does anyone
have a copy of it?

On another I can't find something note, are there any Java
applet/Javascript ship designers still out there? I tried a bunch of
links but can't find one that still works. There used to be several, and they
were nice for trying out different fits to see what works without reworking
the math all the time.

It sounds like you are referring to Mike Brown's Full Thrust Scenario
Generator based off of the missions in the GDW game BattleRider. This site is
no longer online, but with the archive power of waybackmachine.org, we can see
what was there.......
http://web.archive.org/web/19991119015652/http://www.wco.com/~mkkabrow/s
cena rio.htm If the link breaks make sure to cut and paste everything back
together.

Also, I have done some work on a campaign system/scenario generator. It
is NOT a full blown campaign system with research and construction, it is more
of a sector level campaign that generates linked scenarios and the only
overhead is dealing with repairs between scenarios and possible
reinforcements. Let me know if you are interested.

I had to use the Wayback Machine to find these myself, and I did them! I
think I put those up in 1996-7. The one on wayback was @ the 3rd move
(Nov 1999). If I hadn't found them I was ready to pull out hard copies and put
them up again.

A great idea, and thanks for posting the archive link. One of the best things
about Seastrike was the use of randomly selected asymmetrical scenarios. So
much more interesting than the usual meeting engagement slug fest. I've been
trying to convert the scenarios from my old Seastrike set to FT, but finding
it hard to work out appropriate points budgets.

Mr.Brown's scenarios have points budgets, but they're based on the old FT2
design system. Is there any rule of thumb for converting them to the FB1
design/points system?

Just to be clear, Michael, you don't mind if someone posts this, with possible
FB adjustments, right? I didn't think that the move from FT2 to

2.5 would be that big a deal, but some of the newer weapon systems might.

It's a great idea which I'm ashamed to admit I've never given a go. I've a
friend that tired quickly of FT because of the repeated meeting engagements
our group were stuck in. This is probably the best bet to get him to try
again.

And he's the kind of fellow that will struggle though getting games going
where others will say 'that's a fun system; we'll have to try it again',

and never do.

'Make it so'. I've used this with Fleet book forces and the seem to work OK.
When I last updated them FB2 was not out yet.

Power Projection: Fleet's scenario engine does this. It's basically a merger
of mission frequencies from the character generation of Traveller's High
Guard, and the Battle Rider mission forms.

Points value has very little bearing on pure FT though...

Multiply by three for an NPV between 900 and 3000, should work well enough.
