This was at the end of my last post, but I'm excited enough by the concept
that I'm going to spout off for a bit
Say that regardless of class, RGs roll:
4 dice for Thr 1-2
3 dice for Thr 3-4
2 dice for Thr 5-6
1 die for Thr 7+
Range 0-12: 2+ hits
Range 12-24: 4+ hits
Range 24-36: 6 hits
Damage multiplier = number of hits
***
The reason I've become so (some might say easily) fascinated by this idea is
because it seems to fit in with many of the other ideas we've had.
1) It would explain why the K'V use high thrust ships
2) It's very different from the beam mechanic
3) It makes K'V armor (either the ablative OR screen-like variety) make
alot of sense
4) The potential damage is high enough that we can limit arcs without worry
that RGs will be underpriced

Too complicated perhaps.

Number of dice with "hit" results gives multiplier. i.e. if 2 dice come up
with hits in your example above, then damage = class x 2

Ok now that I understand how this system works, I like it.. short and
simple..Good range and good damage penitential and totally diffrent than
beams..OK now, that we have gotten this far, what about mass and cost of said
railgun?
How about;
Class 1 mass 1 2 arc Class 2 mass 2 1 arc Class 3 mass 4 1 arc Cost Mass x4
Since Humans players seem to be upset over scatterguns, I guess we need to
address them too. I personal view them as advanced Submuitions packs so I
don't feel they should be any higher than 1mass 6cost, If you are that human
player that allowed a Kra'Vak Frigate to get that close, and still have them
available you did something wrong, and desives the beating you are going to
get.. Rember Kra'Vak players don't have the same
anti-missile
defence, so they could say the same thing about Human SMR/SML's.

This feels right, but have you balanced it?
