Comments welcome, as always. I've not listed every variant (eg the
escort/banzai jammer ash Shaulah, which drops the FCS and weapons and
adds ADFC and 3 PDS); I haven't listed the TMF 3 banzai jammer implied
by the battleships FTL-tow capacity; I'm having afterthoughts about
the frigates. These ships were designed with Andrew Ayers Full Thrust Ship
Creator (caveat: the current version does not support thrust 9 or

Remember, you asked for it ;-)

BB - Why have you given it the ability to tow 3(!) MASS? I know that
IF vessels do tow their compatriots into battle, but I'd think that you'd want
slightly more. Few vessels have TMFs under 8, and that's barely a fighter or
two.

BB & CH - Why the ADFCs? I think I see the philosophy behind it, but
I question if even large numbers of PDS will save a smaller vessel.

DD - I'd say that you're light on Beam 1s (at least if you're keeping
with the FB design philosophy). I'd also be VERY careful about putting
anything other than standard sensors on anything these days,
as we haven't gotten the rules/POINT COST/MASS for any of it yet.

FF - Same comment on the Bean suite. (Yes, I know that Class 2s are
generally a better buy for combat purposes, if only for range.)

CT & ST - Nice.

Oerjan's suggestion was that 3 mass is a banzai jammer: Hull 1, armor 1, main
drive 6. The big red "Welcome, Salvo Missiles!" sign costs no mass.

Say I have 3-4 CH's together, I want them to be able to protect each
other. Protecting the escorts is just a bonus.

I'm trying for something with a somewhat different look&feel than FB1 fleets.
The mini's don't seem to have a batch of small guns, just one large
one--I was tempted to put a B3 on the DDs. And I don't much like B1's
to begin with..

> I'd also be VERY careful about

I'm assuming that they'll be covered in FB3 or FT3. Consider it as "forcing
the issue." :-)

2 damage points to make it slightly harder to kill with long-range
beams than the cheapest possible TMF 2 BJ (1 hull box, main drive 10)
:-/

Though an 1-Mass tug drive can carry up to 7 Mass, so the Saif can
actually carry two TMF 3 BJs or 3 TMF 2 ones. Don't remember if I didn't think
of it last we discussed these ships, but if not I have no idea *why* not...

This has raised a idea or two-

Targeting beacon Replaces standard SML round (mass=2) Range=ER SML (got to
have some advantages for no dammage) Cost=x4 Dammage=none, instead, any
round(s) that suvive PDS lock a homing beacon onto the hull of the ship
targeted. This beacon allows any SML fired at the
ship with the beacon to gain a +1 to the number of missiles to hit role,
and
also bypassed the "banzai jammer" and/or the target the nearest ship.
Effect negated by ECM (indevidual or area).

Also, watching gundam (General Non Discontinuaty Armuored Mobile suit) raised
another idea, instead of using banzai jammers, how about using inflateable
ballons that mimic the outline of the ship, and emmit a signiture that
confuses the target sensors of the missiles. This device would only work with
the use of ECM, to degrage the sensors on the missiles. The mass of the decoys
would be 2, the cost would be 5, and carries 3 decoys (only one launched at
once). Cost and mass only a guess at the moment.

Comments? or arguments anyone?
