Some nations (like, say, New Israel) would have government sponsored
merc fleet units with their own space, assault and space/surface
interface components. Not having a good enough grasp of the DS/SG
scale, I haven't done much to flesh out the particular designs yet for the
planet-fall capable craft of NI, but in general smaller, militarily
overbuilt powers would have power-projection to spare during
relatively quiet times in their particular political-military
relationships.

On the issue of fleets doing PR and Power Projection tours what kind of
numbers/percentages do fleets have on those duties in the present day,
and what would a reasonable extrapolation in interstellar terms be?
Thanks

In live in a port city. Visitors for public relations range from single
vessels to a small squadron. Something like:
Half a dozen missile boats or mine sweepers Two frigates or submarines A
single destroyer, cruiser or sailing vessel (tall ships are very popular)
A carrier and 1-2 escorts
There may also be meets where ships from various nations come together to
demonstrate friendship. These are obviously bigger events. Each nation's
contingent is at the level described above, at most

What city is that by the way?

How long would these visits last on average? Are these visits mostly in areas
of strategic importance or political interest?
Thanks

Hamburg, Germany. Has a proud maritime tradition a thousand years old. And had
its own (small) Navy until the 19th century.

Typically for a weekend, arriving Friday, leaving Monday. Rarely more than a
week.

Here it's political interest.
