All quiet on the listern front, so....

I think that I have played more Face to Face FT this year than in the last
four. I managed to convert some die hard historical players to the glory of FT
and now have a regular supply of opponents, so at last I have managed
to play ships from each of the 7 major powers - the KV being my
favourite,
though I am growing to hate/respect the SV with each successive defeat.
I do like the phalons as well, but don't use the GZG ships to represent
phalons, and we all know the reasons why - plus the club plays in a pub
;-)

I just wondered if other listers make a point of playing every race, or if
they tend to stick to a favourite?

My local group tended to stick with a fleet per person, though I liked having
at least two should someone be interested but without a fleet of their own.

I died equally well whether running NSL or ESU. ;->=

I do have ships of all the main fleets, with FSE and SV probably the least
represented, as well as plenty of 'borrowed genre' and scratch-built's,
though, and intend to fly all someday. Just not 'making it a point...'

Please note most of the above is in the past tense. However, experiences at
GenCon with B5 Fleet Action may well have revived some Vacheads, and more than
one said, in a quiet aside. they haven't given up on FT altogether.

My recent gaming at local stores has been running the Aliens board game to
'are you coming back next week?' I'll be trying to recruit new Vacheads
amongst the bug hunters.

Well, have been limited in FT time. If you are providing the sides,
I'll paly anybody equally poorly. Groundpounders in space, shudder.... <grin>

If I'm building my own, then I will cobble together multiple lines and scratch
build with beads for my 'alternate worlds' games. IF I went straight canon GZG
(in a campaign setting) I'd stick to the ESU and the NSL.

If I was building fleets to provide for both (plus) sides - say I was
trying to GM a con - I think I'd have NSL, ESU, NAC and 'just enough'
FSE (whatever that means besides 'less then the others') building a force of 3
Capital Ships (plus a carrier or two perhaps,) between 5 and 8 Cruisers, and
at least 12 'Escorts' for each fleet. Only problem would be paying and
painting; playing is much easier.

mi dos centavos.

Gracias,

Well we've never been much for cannon ship stats. We used to play with them at
the very beggining but stopped when we found shipbits and online construction
programs.

Mostly I've played human tech but now that I've finished painting my SV fleet
I'm playing with it. I find designing a SV fleet much more difficult then a
human fleet. It may be that I don't have enough experience with them, but
coming to a balance in the fleet to be able to handle diverse opponents isn't
easy. Ship slection is limited to the models we have. I have 4 frigates, 4
destroyers, 3 cruisers, 3 heavy cruisers, 2 battleships, 2 superdreadnoughts.

I try to use different fleets or mixtures. I have a large ESU force that I use
~ 50% of the time and smaller NSL and NAC forces for another 40% the final 10%
is my KV force and home designs.

The only reason the KV doesn't get more of a run is that the other players
don't have a copy of FB2 yet so it is a bit mean to use it too much.

My main opponents are the UN and the NSL/ NAC combined force.

Soon we will have a player with a FSE force so that will be interesting
(he has it about 1/4 painted )

I am also collecting a IF fleet but will probably play it as a Phalon fleet
and let some one use the KV against it.

I like playing the different styles as you don't get washed out just doing the
same thing each time.

We have a mixed bag here, in fact the one GZG cannon fleet is the NSL. As for
the other races played most come from SFB.
Also a few from the Bab-5 universe and one from the old Superior
Models line. All have been given FT stats (many form people on this list..)
Our group here does allot of cross genre fighting with most having a favorite
fleet but, we play everything. The next on the agenda that I plan to build is
a UN fleet. Another guy in our group is building ESU,and another is doing up a
KV fleet.
