OK, I read through FT, FB!, and part of FB2. One wuestion. According to
FB2, K-1's can be used in PDS mode and kill 1 fighter on a roll of 5 or
6.
Given the rest of the games rules, is it reasonable to assume they kill a
HEAVY fighter on a roll of 6 only?

Possibly not, heavy fighters are protected as per a level 1 screen, and
screens don't effect k-guns.

I'm going to have to disagree here. The book says they are protected similarly
to a screen, not as a screen. I believe it says they are more strongly
constructed.
As a point of reference those Kra'Vak shotgun things kill 1-6 fighters
or half that many heavy fighters. I read this one two nights ago trying to
figure out how to deal with Kra'Vak.

That's how I read it too - stroger hulls, armor, just all-around more
robust
- not necessarily screened. That's why I was thinking the L-1 kill on 6
only would be a valid assumption.

Yes it does say that and more to the point it says "When heavy fighters are
attacked, treat them as if they had LEVEL-1 SCREENS in operation"

This is why I said possibly, since there's a inconsistency here. The simplest
way around it is to make sure both you and your opponent are in
agreement about what you want:)

Brian, While I cannot speak for all, I would play the rule as written, I.E.
one fighter is lost for any
5 or 6 rolled reguardless of type. All fighters have
only one damage point, K1s do one damage point; therefor the fighter is lost.

I won't be playing with or against KV for a while, so it's more of a curiosity
thing than a practical game app question for now....

That doesn't quite mesh with the fighter descriptions, which state that HEAVY
fighters are tougher, harder to kill. I know that it's simulated by treating
them as having a screen, but the book does say that they do have more robust
structures than basic fighters.
K1s do one damage point;

If other weapons have their ability to kill a fighter reduced if it's a heavy
fighter, it still seems reasonable to allow for the same when using
K-1's.

No. Class-1 Beam Batteries and Class-1 K-guns both ignore the Heavy
modification.

Missed that part.

That makes this part make more sense.

Err... actually, in the FB2 description of Heavy Fighters it just states
(for attacks by beam-type PDS) ".. rolls of "4" have no effect", with no
actual mention of screens.
I'd personally take the list consensious (IIRC) that B-1 kill heavy
fighters as if they were normal fighters as guidance here, and assume
K-1s work the same vs. both heavy and normal fighters.
