Forgot to ask concerning the Nihon Outpost: is there any particular reason for
it's asymmetric firing arcs?

Another thing that should be in the bases are holds of various types. Anyone
who has lived on board ship knows that when you get back to base you need some
extra room to stretch your legs.
Even if it is just a big, half empty cargo hold ;-)

I always assumed that the larger the crew area, the more likely quality rec
space. If everybody gives up an extra CC of space, it can really add up
with large numbers. ;->=
However, cargo holds seem especially apropos if the 'base' is supposed to
resupply/repair/transship/etc. visiting ships.
