my advice move to the digest as I have done at least you only get one mail in
the mail box and its easier to parse out the noise. I agree its irritating,
but that's community life.

BTW something is posting in an unknown 8-bit character set:

MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=unknown-8bit
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
X-MIME-Autoconverted: from 8bit to quoted-printable by
soda.csua.Berkeley.edu id XAA25417

which throws the whole digest out and fills it with nasty contol characters
such as =20 for CR LF which make scanning the text a real pain.

my mail client states:
'
This message uses a character set that is not supported by the Internet
Service. To view the original message content, open the attached message. If
the text doesn't display correctly, save the attachment to disk, and then open
it using a viewer that can display the original character set.

'

If anyone has the individual mails they may be able to spot what it is as the
digest encodes all the text using this scheme during
auto-convertion.

you may want to check out the computer topics mailing list - the
details are on the computer core site which can be accessed from

www.fullthrust.net

and I updated the core last night:

Some people also read the digests directly from the archives:

http://www.warpfish.com/jhan/ft/Archive

I'm a little behind on digests, but that's becuase I'm working on a major,
major upgrade to the archives. I don't know when I'll be finished, buth, when
I am, you should be able to find things in the
archive a lot easier than you can now. (Or, maybe not. (8-) )

Thanks, JGH

Seems to have cleaned up now, so we won't need to press the SMITE button.

But it's been a while since the last time, might as well try it and see if it
still works....
