There are implications to this - see the notes on FTL travel in the back of FB1 for the physiological (and other) effects of an FTL jump :-) Although, it might be considered a prerequisite of Matter Transporter tech to have some means of overcoming these problems. Another option is the 'Quantum Entanglement' PSB - IMHO this implies a 'two terminus matter transmitter' (i.e. one requiring both a transmitter _and_ a receiver). Or a short-duration, short-range wormhole. Or... (etc.) I joke I have with Adam is that one of the controls on the Star Trek Transporters is a 'mode select' which determine which PSB is used (and hence, which weird side-effects are possible :-).
