Subject: (FT) Japanese Fleet Concept

Greetings!

A friend of mine saw the Japanese Fleet ships and immediately fell in love
with them, he already has the mega fleet plus some others, but as there are no
official stats for them, he created some based on the WW2 Japanese fleet
concept. Big ships, usually one class bigger than the other „Navy’s”, Big
guns and pulse torpedoes. I can’t remember any more details, as it has been a
while since I’ve risked my NAC ships

against his. But he squezzed the biggest battery on the ship he thought it
could carry.

Their structure were below average, so once you got in range and were lucky to
dish out enough damage, it was likely to fall. It was only

hard to get into range, with enough weaponry intact. So his designs
are not very popular. :-)

So he’s asked: Does anyone has a diffrent concept for those ships..?

The ESU and NSL are known for their use of big guns (and many of them to
boot)... Well I should say beams. Especially on the ESU Super Dreadnought of
Doom. So I think we have enough of those around.:)

I've seen some talk on the list about arming the Japanese as a missle heavy
force. They take some skill in guestimation but they can really delivery The
Hurt if played right.

Search items of Japanese Ship Design will give you several of the ideas put
forth.

claims to be building a fleet from the same tack your friend is using.

Roger Burton West has taken an anime approach to them but I belive he's
enroute to Australia at the moment, so you won't be able to get details for
a few days. Generally they use lots of missiles and fighters and will
be overpowered until we implement a solution for the "Swarms of Fighters"
problem.

I'd be interested in seeing your friend's designs, if you want to post the
stats for, say, a heavy cruiser and a couple of capital ships to the list

I'll ask his permissions and post some stats, if it's not against any of

the regulations - they are not official designs, but being new to the
list it's better to ask than break any regulations.

No problem, as long as you post in plain text (not HTML or RTF, no
attachments) and either just post a few ships or put [Long] in the
subject--I'd suggest just to send a few ships, as that will let us get
the idea and saves you a little extra typing.

No rules against posting your own or a friend's designs (as long the friend in
question agrees to it, of course!). The 'official' designs (ie., those
from the Fleet Books) are off limits though - please don't post them or
put them on the web, since that'll infringe GZG's copyrights.
