On the other hand, Tony, your ships have more flat area than Jon's, on
average, so the flat pieces you add should blend better. Still, I'll probably
give this a go 'real soon'(tm). As in, before my hair catches up with my
beard, vis' a vis' greyness.

I might try filling some of the GZG detail with a bit of putty, too. I know
how some will object, but just areas big enough to take a decal here, a
transfer text there. ;->=

Another option for decal placement is to get some sheets of the
pre-scribed plastic sheets by Evergreen. They make great additional
detail pieces and when placed up-side down, they provide a flat panels
for name or numeral placement. I use these for my scratch-builds and so
far look pretty good.

Yes, that's a minor gripe I have with, e.g.the UNSC ships. No flat areas where
marking could be placed.
