I have the FT rulebook but there is no mention of varying forms of fighters in
it. As part of some of the FT material I've come across indicates there seems
to be different classes of fighers (interceptors, bombers, etc.) is this in
More Thrust and if so could someone clue me in until I have a chance to order
the book.

Yes, it's in MT.

Fast fighters - 50% more speed.
Interceptors - +1 to the die roll in dogfights, only hits ships on a 6.
Torpedo fighters - basically fires a one-shot down-scaled pulse torp.
Heavy fighters - count as having lvl-1 screens against point defence and

other fighters.

All of these cost more than standard fighters, but I don't remember how much.

Hope this helps somewhat,

What the heck are panzers than? I have read a couple of battle reports and
they speak of launching panzers. Where are these things at?

That, I believe, was a naming convention for the campaign game that was being
conducted in a Mecha universe. Same thing as fighters.

I think it's Mikko's generic term for fighters...

Think you are referring to Mikko's game reports - AFAIK "panzer" is his
pet
name for his house-variant fighters that he uses in his own particular
background.

Yes, the different fighter types appear in More Thrust, as well as Fighter
Group Morale (you want us to dive into the teeth of THAT?!?!?!?!?),
Scrambling, Fighter Endurance, and Pilot Quality.

The fighter variants include:
Fast, Heavy (ie., tougher), Interceptors, Attack, Long-Range (for when
fighter endurance is used), and Torpedo. Some of these could (if agreed upon
by your group) be combined (exp., Heavy Torpedo, Fast Interceptor) but some
combos shouldn't exist out of common sense (exp. Attack/Interceptors).

As the guilty party, I guess I owe an explanation:

Panzers are fighters. They are just called panzers because that fits my
MechaZone campaign better. They are humanoid "mecha", but there is no game
effect. It's just flavor.
