G'day guys,
We hit upon a snag on Friday and I thought it best to get your wise opinions
on the matter... for Attack (etc) fighters do their modifiers apply to
rerolls? To paraphrase, it does say "all their die rolls" in MT and doesn't
mention anything to the contrary in FB. After a die roll to decide the
situation, we went with Yes, but what do you guys think?
Cheers
Beth
No. A natural 6 is required for a reroll. This applies to interceptors as
well. I think it's covered in the FT FAQ, but don't have the address handy.

I don't think that's what Beth was asking -- it sounds more like what
she
wanted to know was whether the attack fighters' effective +1 to the die
roll is effective on a re-roll. Seeing as the rules say "any damage
done by the reroll die is counted exactly as for normal damage by that weapon
type" (p.5) I'd agree with her. (With the rules' caveat for no shields
present, of course.) Another reason to fear attack fighters, I
guess....

I think what Beth was asking was whether or not the enhanced damage roll
applies to the actual re-roll (i.e. re-rolled damage uses the better
Attack
Fighter roll rather than the standard), not if the re-roll is on a 5 or
6 instead of a 6.
If this is what you were asking, Beth, I'd say YES! They are better then
normal fighters and you pay the extra for them, so if you are lucky enough to
roll a natural 6, then the better rolling also applies to the
re-roll.

Yes, that was what I was asking.
Thanks Kelvin.

The interceptor/attack fighter re-rolls should get the +1 for damage
purposes, but you need to roll a "6" on the unmodified die to get the
re-roll in the first place. Or, if you like, rolls of "6" on the
*modified* die gives you a re-roll, but rolls of "5" or "7" do not -
the effect is the same <g>

Beth, For the sake of simplictity and to be consistent, I would say yes. MT
does not deal with the reroll concept and so the solution is really fodder for
the dreaded 'House Rule'.

Bye for now,
G'day guys,
Thanks for all the response guys. Furthermore, I'm glad to see I can actually
agree with you on something;)
Cheers
