MTMs are still not fully defined for FT3. In FT2, one of the major
play-balance limits for them (I forget whether official or house-rule)
was that they needed a FC of their very own, one per MT missile, that couldn't
be used for anything else.

Note also that in FT2, an FC used for Pulse Torps couldn't be used for
Beams - to fire 2 MT missiles, 3 Pulse Torps and 2 Beams at the same
target, you'd need 2 FCs for the MT missiles, another different FC for the
Pulse Torps, and yeat another different FC for the Beams.

Now in FT3/FB1 we have a different situation. You need 1 FC per target,
and any number or combination of weapons can all use this same FC. For
weapons which don't have targets as such - MTMs, SMs, PBs - then as long
as you have at least 1 FC, then you can fire. And this FC can be used for
other weapons.

So in the same example, 2 MT missiles, 3 Pulse torps, and 2 Beams at the
same target, you'd need just 1 FC rather than 2+1+1=4.

There's nothing in the published rules nor in the FAQ about this and I
don't recall having seen it on-list, so it must've been a house rule.

Except for Needle Beams, which still use the old targetting rules.

True for MTMs and SMs, but PBLs require 1 FCS *per PBL* to fire. An FCS used
to fire a PB can still be used for pulser fire later in the same turn though.
