Will the Fleet Book contain Fleet emblems? You have the pewter badges, I
assume they would be similar to these.
Do you have them in electronic/web format? What about
Decal sheets, any plans. I'd pay real money for such things.

Didn't realize that there were emblems already. Pewter badges?
A friend has an NSL fleet, which he loaned me for this weekend in Denver,
sporting iron crosses on a white square background. I think the decals were
originally for 1/144 biplanes.

Have thought about it, but i) it IS expensive, and ii) not all FT weapons use
the same way of reading damage dice, so it wouldn't necessarily work.

Yes.

Similar in some cases, but we may redesignimprove a few, in which case we will
revise the badges as well at a later date.

We could probably do this when we've done them.
What about

This IS something we'd like to do, if we can get a reasonable price on them.
Out of interest, how many other people would like FT decals? (National logos,
ship numbers and such)?

Yes please for the Decals

Good idea.

I have to admit, I'd be interested in cap/jacket patches with
national or unit/ship identifiers on them. FT decals might well be
useful too.

Hey, I'd love them! I can do a reasonable paint job, until it comes to details
like emblems and such.

Though not what you suggest, Chessex does a two coloured die that works great
with FT. They should be out now to the general public (but maybe not) but they
previewed them last year at GenCon. I saw them but didn't think much about
them. Dean Gundberg, however, brought a bunch to the mailing list game. The 1
through 3 numbers are a different colour from the 4 through 6. This makes
potential hits very easy to figure out as you can quickly ignore half the dice
rolls. Taking Dean's advice I bought about 16 of the things. You might want to
look for them.

Count me in, as long as they are small enough. Ship numbers and letters
should be about 8 point type in a sans-serif font (be sure to choose a
font with cross bars for I and zero). Please include letters! This will allow
us to place ship names on the ships. Please take the effort to include some
Kra'Vak characters.

8 point could be a little on the large side - I use 4-5 point white
Letraset rub-down markings, these are 2mm high.
One of the problems with waterslide decals (I assume this is the format that
the decals will come in) is that they like to sit on a relatively smooth
surface. Not many of the CMD FT ships have largeish areas that are smooth
enough to take decals successfully. Yes, I
realise that you can use setting solutions / varnish over them
etc, but eventually they'll probably fall off - especially with the
amount of handling a wargames miniature gets.
I don't want to pour cold water on the idea - I'd certainly buy some
if they were available - just pointing out the potential pitfalls.

I tried to find someone to do the rub down (burnish?) sheets instead of decals
and was told that these are on the way out!! Seems that desktop publishing is
responsible for the demise of the materials used to produce the sheets. Decals
are readily available so we may get some into production if we can just figure
out what we want!!

Yes! Definitely!
Especially if they can be used for Dirtside II micro-armor
(i.e. they're small enough to fit on 1/300 scale grav tanks)
and for Stargrunt II (shoulder-patch insignia, etc.).

I've been out on the net, and I've found a zillion funky fantasy, and
alien fonts (one of the neatest is the Predator font - remember the
bomb timer on the Predator's wrist - someone developed an entire font
set from that - very alien and quite funky). It might well be worth
looking to one of these for a solution to the alien lettering issue.
If GZG doesn't see production of such as viable.... individuals with access to
something (laser, colour laser, inkjet, colour inkjet)
which can make a transparency - not too thick - can pick their own
font (including the funky alien ones), make 6 point or 8 point names or ID
numbers for their vessels, print them on the transparency, trim with an exacto
knife, attach with clear adhesive, and spray with clear dullcote to help
remove the 'decal' reflective look. That will work too. I've done it for other
things.

It is possible to buy transfer sheets for inkjet printers - don't ask
me where from, though!

I forget what the exact name is, but there is some kind of blank decal sheet
material available at some hobby stores. One can paint on it with enamel
paints to make an instant decal. I'm not sure if it works in an ink jet
printer or not.
