I have a question for the FT mini's players out there...

I am slowly bashing together some ship minis on my own.

I am assembling them from bits and pieces like electrical connectors, beads,
ect.

What I need to know is: About how long is an escort class ship? Cruisers?
Capitals?

I like the idea of making my own minis...just don't want to make them
too large/small.

I know they won't look anywhere as good as the professional stuff...

Escort are ~2-5 cm
Cruisers are ~3-8 cm
Capitals are any size you can fit on the base.

It doesn't really matter what size you make them, as long as your fleet is in
scale with itself. The best bet would be to build your largest capital first &
scale the rest of your fleet from there. If you were insane, you could make
your capitals 12" long, but you'd have a problem using 1" scale movement or
less.

If I had the money, at Conquest next year, I really wanted to run the full
Battle of Endor using 1' scale as a midnight madness event using the main
convention hall (we're moving to a convention centre next year supposedly) but
we can all dream. I did work it out & needed about 25 scale model capital
ships & 300
micromachine starfighters using 1:1 scale... ;-)

That would have been something to see! How big did the capitals work out to?

I was thinking of getting the 16" models (I still spot them very occasionally)
except they sell for about $80 each; when I find them, and they need assembly
& painting... Maybe 2001...

And they aren't great kits, so add the time for getting them right....

That would be cool. Use our normal spaceship mini's, then it would
be more the feel of the vast distances in space. Just don't forget to bring
your binoculars and compass which are needed for the sensor and
target lock rules :-)

Enjoy,
