Subject: FT:Battlestar Galactica Question

Does anyone know if at any point in the T.V. shows, novels or any place else
it was mentioned, shown or even hinted at that the Cylons operated large

capital ships. Something other than the usual Basestars loaded with fighters.

Thanks,

Perry

I don't recall ever seeing anything other than shuttles, fighters, and
basestars for the cylons.

I enjoyed BS-Galactica and the short-lived sequel, but what I always
found amazing was the Cylons. Here they were superior to carbon life but it
took three of the poor suckers to fly one Cylon fighter and only one human to
fly a Viper. Who's superior here anyway?

The only place you can even get a hint of other ship classes the Cylons use is
the first episode, opening sequence. When the fighter probe first discovers
the Cylon tanker, they run their sensor reading through the onboard computer.
The computer flashes through series of cylon ship silhouettes, including what
appears to be an alternative (possibly outdated) base ship design.

Ant truth to the rumor that BS-Galactica will hit the big screen soon
with an
updated story line and mega-$ CGI based special effects?

During the episode "the living legend", Apollo mentions that they nailed a
cylon scout ship. (whatever that is.) I haven't heard anything else.

Unfortunately I heard it is being done by the same bozo that butchered the
Wing commander movie. So, it will probably suck hard. Too bad.

Thats a shame. Any indication of a release date or any licenced
toys/kits we
GZG players could use for FT, DSII, SGII, etc? BTW: I know the Galactica and
Base Star were re-released by AMT (?). Can they be used with either GZG
or AoG ships?

Thanks,

This is all un-official information I believe, but it was posted and
debated on some newsgroups by people I have come to trust (as far as you can
trust any newsgroup). Since I don't know this loser's name I will refer to the
Director of the Wing Commander movie as <WCD> in my post below.

Basically, <WCD> got the writer of the BG stuff to sign on as a junior partner
to his vision of the BG movie (gave him some goodies, since nobody else was
able to secure those rights). < WCD> went on to say what a big SFX budget this
movie would have compared to WC. I guess one of the changes is that when the
Vipers hit the turf they can change into "Walker" mode (I about tossed my
lunch at this prospect). Meanwhile, Richard Hatch has created a promo to sell
the idea of a BG series and possibly movie. I believe it ran at Dragon Con
(Atlanta, GA). However, <WCD> said he can make whatever he wants as long as he
realizes
it's dead material - <WCD> claims he has all of the rights for
television, movie, toys, etc. It is a shame since people that saw Hatch's
promo indicated it was a solid idea.

Please note again this is all pasted from various emailings and posting to
newgroups - so take it for what it's worth.

Half the base star, makes a *very* nice FT GZG scale star base see MT.

I found a tiny bit of information at http://www.battlestarmovie.com

I have one of those cylon basestars that I picked up at a garage sale that is
missing its bottom half. You're right Tim! It IS a lovely star base!

The BSG and Base Star are _far_ bigger than GZG / AoG models - the
Galactica is around 18" long. I guess you could use themin a standalone battle
when there are no other ships for comparison.

Comet Miniatures used to make a sensibly-sized Battlestar in their
mini-metals
range - don't know whether it's still available. Try :

What makes that movie a real shame, is that the "pegasis" bridge won't likely
look like it did on the TV series. Unless he makes a deal with universal to
use the sets, ect. (Unless he has allready....has anyone heard anything about
this?)

Chris Roberts, according to www.imdb.org. his birthday's the same as my
uncle's. the database also claims he directed the film footage in the WingCo
iii and iv games. he doesn't seem to have directed anything else.

i would guess that the changes were made not by the director, but by the
scrptwriters, and above all the producers.
