Subject: FT-B5 ships

I've tried designing some Earthforce ships for FT. The Nova
got Thrust-2 only because they do seem able to do a 180
without first coming to a stop, and the Omega Thrust-3 as
supposedly being faster.)

I just read this from hugh, and thought of a new thread. Why don`t we have
people post their own B5 design ships, using only what is availble in the
books, and see what other people come up with?

My own preference runs to having the main beam weapons as K-guns and the

narn energy mines as PH plasma bolts, with interceptors as only PDS (requiring
the ships to be a little tougher due to the lack of intercept of incoming
fire).

White Star

mass=91

ftl=9
md(t=8)=36
hull(dp=19)=19 screens x2=9 armour=5 pds x2=2 1 arc pulsers(f) x2=4 K3 x1=5 fc
x2=2

This was totally from memory, may have forgotten something (preety sure I
have, just cannot think what at this time of night (0100)).

Anybody else?

In past B5 games that I've been invlolved in we have simulated interceptors by
combining screens with PDS.

Each interceptor system is 5% of vessel mass. Each interceptor system covers a
180 degree arc, vessels can have a maximum of 2 interceptor systems (covering
fore and aft 180 degree arcs, or port and starboard 180 degree arcs).

Interceptors may operate in only one of two roles each turn (to be selected in
the orders phase). Different interceptor systems on the same vessel can be set
to different modes if desired.

Interceptor modes:

1) Standard. Provides level 1 screen defence and a number of PDS shots, 1 per
3 mass of system. 2) Buttoned up. Provides level 2 screen defence but no PDS
fire equivilent.

There is no cost as such for this system as our B5 games are scenario not
points based. We also use Beams rather than k-guns for the primary
weapons.
