Recent comments on criticals hits jarred my memory; has anyone tried to

simulate offensive/defensive EW between ships in Full Thrust using an
FMA style contested roll?

For example, Babylon 5 is a setting in which EW and targetting are a
significant restriction in the Earth Mimbari War. Perhaps Earth ship sensors
are classed as 'pathetic' (D4) while Mimbari defensive EW is 'Enhanced'
(D8).
Then the EA ship must commit its guns to targetting the Mimbari ship, but then
must beat it in a roll off before it may roll the dice and try to damage the
target. This would give about 19% of shots getting off. Shift Mimbari up to
D12 and it gets right down there for odds (12%?).

Just an idea that's out there... Tom

I like it. Geoffery Stwert had a similar idea in his Babylon 5 rules.

Actually, I read Geoffrey Stewart's Babylon 5 rules, and admired many of his
ideas, then wondered how close he might be to space combat in Babylon Project,
then thought if Jon Tuffley's working on it, maybe it'll incorporate elements
of FMA, then...
