Okay after beating my head against the Net for a little while, I thought I'd
get smart and ask.
What kind of figs do you use for DSII and could you send me a link or email
address or phone # for the supplier.
BTW I know about GZGs DSII line of figs and like them I'm just looking for
something different.
GHQ MicroArmor is a good substitute. Use French, British or West German stuff,
most people can't ID it.

PS I have vast numbers of T-80, M1, BMP and Bradley IFV that I am
willing to part with CHEAP. Let me know off line.

Hey Joe,
For DSII, I use GW EPIC figures, because I have so many.
SGII is a different story. I game SGII in two different scales. For 25mm, I
use FSE units mainly, but I have a growing army of Micro Machines "Action
Fleet" figures, both Star Wars and Starship Troopers. For 28mm, I use GW
figures, Mutant Chronicles figures, and StarTrek figures (the small painted
ones from playmates, I think).

All of these companies are linked to from my webpage - see my .sig for
the URL.
Scotia make a nice and extensive line of SF 1/300. Scotia has no
website, but Simtac, their North American agents, do.
Ral Partha's Battletech line is mostly silly mecha, but has some usuable
vehicles. (some nice aerospace units)
Brigade make a small but nice line.
Adler's Dark Star seem good - their SF 1/300 buildings are. These are
distributed by Stone Mountain.
The BEST source of minis information is The Miniatures Page (TMP), which has
huge indexes by genre, scale and company.
Irregular has no web presence that I know of, and their minis are far less
detailed, but they're less expensive as well.
There is also, of course, Games Dorkshop's Epic scale, for which you will pay
epic prices and be forced to sell your soul to some tentecled horror from the
Beyond. (I do not have a link to Goudge Wonkslop on my page.)
For Stargrunt II, I play in 15mm scale. GZG has a small but nice 15mm SG2
line; Irregular has 15mm SF that are slightly oversized, not as detailed, but
inexpensive; Tabletop Miniatures (no website that I know of) has some that are
reportedly nice; Peter Pig's are good; there are a couple more companies out
there as well; check TMP. Ditto for 25mm SciFi stuff.
Hope this helps,

Another option not mentioned yet are the old MAATACs line of war machine
miniatures by Superior available from Game Masters

SG Figs:
I picked up a bunch of Hobby Products/Metal Magic "Spacelords" figs
(25 mm) on clearance. They are slightly larger than the GZG figs, but
can be used with them without looking too out-of-place. Unfortunately,
they're hard to get in the US. The guys at the local gaming store told me they
were dropping the line because, although they had no problem getting the
initial stock package, it was almost impossible to get restock.
The Yoyodyne Shigaru figs are very nice, with light or medium combat armor.
Despite the name, the only "samurai" styling is a slight flaring of the armor
skirts below the waist. Each of about 4 different packs
has 4 different poses/figures, so there's good variety.
The Cybertech Extra-Heavy is pretty good heavy infantry, in
full battle armor with heavy weapons, but most of the the other
Spacelords packs are "samurai in space"--fanciful samurai-styled
armor, with thoroughly impractical curves and flares all over it.
The Ship's Crew and Adventurers packages are also very nice. And there's one
fig from the Adventurers pack that looks like Vasquez from Aliens.
In another scale: I have 84 plastic "toy" figures, about 15mm, that I got as a
"bonus" in packages of space ships I picked up for
$3 at Toy Liquidators (6 ships & 12 figs/pack). (Some of the ships
are becoming heavy infantry transports and dropships for DSII; others are
becoming capital ships for FT.) With a little conversion, the figs will make
nice infantry for SG or??.
DSII Figs:
In addition to the plastic "toy" figures, I have a bunch of CMD armor, some
*old* Humvees and Ral Partha "BattleTech" Savannah Master hover scouts, and
Fortress Figures "Hover APCs" and "Missile Tanks" (unfortunately out of
production). For infantry, I bought 2 packs of Ral Partha "BattleTech"
infantry, one Davian and one the house of which I can't remember just now.
Both are lightly armored, with a few heavy weapons mixed in. They're a
bit oversized (1/200, I think), but they detail nicely and are
easy to identify from across the table. I have a few GHQ modern APCs and such.
I also have a few Ral Partha "BattleTech" armor pieces (the Badger tank comes
to mind), though I'm doing minor conversions to them (different turrets to
turn tanks into artillery, removing turrets entirely to turn them into MASH
units, etc.).
Yes, I'm cheap: I always check the clearance bins and the Toy Liquidator for
bargains. 'Course, I also grab

I'm pretty sure it's not less.
I've been trying, off and on, to find more of the Shigaru; I've got a set
of six elites(?) that have the lightsaber-like swords, that I may use as
a
CC squad (a la GW, I guess, but whatever ^_^ ) but only two Shigaru, one
with a regular gun, one with a heavy weapon.

I think those "lightsabers" are supposed to be SF-katanas or
some such. *Not* to my taste, but...
I think Attactix (Aurora, CO) had some Elites in the clearance bin. I don't
have their email address, but I think at least one of them frequents
rec.games.miniatures.misc; you could probably contact them there and get them
to check.

Sorry about that... I noticed that I was late for work, got distracted, and
posted without completing my sentence.
...'Course, I also grab various non-discounted pieces that
strike my fancy. I picked up some Silent Death minis (discounted) at Genghis
Con to use in DSII: o 0652 "Equalizer" (3 pcs) as a class 2 or 3 VTOL
transport o 0611 "Pit Viper" (3 pcs) as a class 2 aerospace fighter o 0658
"Bat" (2 pcs) as a class 3 aerospace fighter or dropship

I believe somewhere in this thread someone mentioned wanting
terminator-style
figs. Just wondered if either GW's necrons and RAFM's Rifts Skelbots(sp?)?
Depends if you want towering behemoths or near-normal 25mm size blokes.

Don't have an address for Bill or Doug, who've taken over running the shop,
but I think Tom Dye would help anyone. Least, he'd give a try.

Please say The_Beast sent you.
This is the fellow that sent me the first batch of Minifig spaceships. I sent
a quick scan to Thomas Granvold just before the con with a promise to get some
better piccies. Unfortunately, I ran straight in to a nasty bug, perhaps at
the con, and am now bundled up at home.

I tend to find SD ships that work for FT, but I know of a fellow who uses
Spirit Riders for DSII. I was skeptical, until I saw his nicely painted
OD-with-detail
scheme, and was very impressed.
Let me guess: Colpar's 50% off? When you travel over 1000 round trip to a con,
deals like these balance the expense. Especially as some were already reduced.
;->= Genghis Con's dealer room and auctions were very good to me.

Bummer! There I was, carrying around a 1500 point fleet (only Friday night,
though), and I didn't even know to look for you! Drat!

May well have been a comedy of errors. Birhan Lin came up to me later in the
weekend, explaining he had seen my note, but hadn't brought any figs. Heck, we
could have played with match sticks, but it wasn't til after he'd walked off
that I remembered I'd brought my micromachine ST fleets. He may not have been
in the mood, but I would have pressed him into a test of the ships SSD's.
*sigh*
Oh, well, as I've pointed out, my flotilla's mostly small stuff, and I know
how it is having to set aside the pride of the fleet. Especially if
home-brew; my
standard ESU ships would get murdered by well-optimised ones. Ok, they
get
murdered regularly, no matter what. ;->=

Not to mine eihter, really; I grabbed six because that was how many I could
find that I like (there were a *lot* more at the store) and because they were,
I think, $1.25 each. Shigaru, though, could be useful... if I can find 'em.
I seem to have this pencahnt for getting old minis. Anyone have any old
Grenadier starships? (Space Squadrons/Stellardate:2998.)
Thanks for finishing your sentence. ^_^ I've grabbed a few Silent Death
minis to fill out the ranks of my Eldar Space Fleet ships, but haven't done a
whole lot with 'em yet....

About the Metal Magic figures...I can promise nothing, but if you can make it
to Cold Wars this year (at the Lancaster Host Resort in PA, I don't know the
dates) you'll probably find some. When Jenkintown Hobbies (the people, I might
add, who first showed the products of Ground Zero Games to K.R. at Geohex...)
closed, we had a ton of Metal Magic figures left. They were selling at 70% the
day we closed our doors.... Anyway, the owner of the shop is going to be at
Cold Wars, and he will probably be selling them there. I don't know what price
he'll ask, but I bet that it will be at some kind of discount.
Good luck!

If you can still find them, Leading Edge made some licensed 25mm (True 25mm)
T-2 figure sets. I've got a couple of T-800 Exo-Skeleton types as well
as some of the "infiltration" models made to look like humans. They fit in
nice with GZG Stargrunt minis.

I do still see these in shops; next time I'm up in Colorado, I'll try to swing
by Greeley. Don's still had these at original price last time I looked.
However, if you follow eBay, you'd have to assume they're rare and precious.
