Just out of curiousity... does anyone know of anyone selling any of GZG's
minis here in the US? Specifically I was wondering about the ORC Ships and the
Catgirl Pirate figs?

Not anymore, look for older thread on Geohex. Having a distributor is actually
not that interesting for Jon. Either the pices have to be high, or he won't
earn anything. Just mail order from GZG in the UK. His prices are including
VAT, but US clients don't have to pay that. Or you can order from Eureka in
Ozzyland. I think the catgirls are actually Eureka designs.

Just order direct from GZG. Your credit card will do the currency conversion
automatically and you'll usually get your order in a week or so.
Or you can call Campaign Headquarters in Norfolk and see if they still carry
FT minis.
CH did have some the last time I was there, but I've never seen any ORC
stuff.... and it's not that I normally mind the price or the shipping...
believe me, I'm quite fond of the prices and shipping normally experienced...
I was just looking to see if I could save the normal difference cause I intend
to do a little kitbashing and I didn't have the normal amount of financial
freedom I'm used to having... almost a year later and I'm still recovering
from the 'Great Wench Experiment'.... As it is, I've actually found some of
what I need for
now....
To get any of the new FT stuff, I think that your stuck with on-line
stoes like GZG. Most shops in the US don't carry FT anymore thinking
the game is dead. CHQ is linked tightly to GEO-HEX (the owners of both
compaines are maried to each other) and generally if GEO-HEX can't get
it CHQ really can't get it. The manager, not owner, of CHQ has generally not
done business with any of the distributors they don't like (personality) even
though those distributors are the only ones the carry the items that CHQ's
customers want. I got really torked when it took over a year to get ships
advertised on GH's website. I went straight to the source and was able to get
what I wanted from GZG direct and within
a week (this was before WTC). Now things take about 3-5 days longer,
especially at christmas.
If you want to do modular kit bashing, maybe Jon at GZG will start offering
bits like the other Evil Empire... Jon hint hint.

I take it you haven't actually *tried* ordering individual bits from GZG,
since if you had you would've known that Jon already does sell individidual
bits. Has done so for several years, even. They're not explicitly listed in
the catalogue, but giving the catalogue number for the complete model and a
description of the particular bit you want (eg., "the central gun/bridge
piece of the FT407A (Ko'Tek Strike Cruiser)", or whatever) is quite sufficient
to let Jon identify it.

I doubt that. Even when GeoHex were in operation and carried GZG stuff, it was
usually cheaper for US customers to order directly from GZG whenever
they could (which wasn't very often, since Jon referred them back to GeoHex
whenever possible).

And I also have to comment that the quality of the GeoHex vs. GZG castings
were like NIGHT and DAY. So in the end...not only was it cheaper to order from
the UK but the resulting product was of better quality.

I'm sorry, I lost you. "Great Wench Experiment"?
now THAT sounds like a story! ;-)

Not really.... just a simple case of "boy-meets-girl" turns into
"thank-God-I-didn't-propose-like-I-was-going-too-in-a-few-months" The
question is.... after three years.... is it the failure of the student to
learn, or the failure of the teacher not knowing when to quit?

Before ordering from New Wave, go to The Miniature's Page Forums and check
the New Wave horror stories out - seems like a LOT of people have had
various sorts of trouble w/ New Wave - lost orders, mis-charged credit
cards, no feedback, etc
Given that Eureka are online in their own right, and apparently very good at
worldwide shipping, why not go direct? S&H from Oz might be high, but
aggrivation from New Wave seems likely to be higher...
Well... actually I'm not going to worry about it for now... As I said.. it's
not that I really have a problem ordering from GZG... I was just checkin to
slim some cost off due to my current situation.. In all told.. I'm rather
surprised by GZG's delivery and prices, having ordered from them before...

The TMP has been engaged... Good, Newwavegames has proved to be less than
reliable in other circles as well....
Eurekas shipping cost wasn't all that bad last time I looked, rember that all
their prices are in Australian dollars not US ones.
