G'day guys,

With the recent turn of events in Gibraltar, who's cooking up the next NAC
(or may be that should be FSE) break away group - Independent Gibraltar?
;)

You can imagine their Defence force's motto now... along the lines of a rock
and a hard place;)

By the way if anyone's interested I've had a crack at getting a map with the
coastlines as they will be about 2190. Actually I have a few versions...

1) 2m change scenario = as of today minus Pacific Atolls - most likely
case based on current projections, but ice cover is going faster than we
though so that may well change. 2) 5m change scenario = lose Indian and
Pacific islands, delta lands go under (mouth of Nile, Amazon, Negro, Niger etc
etc) so like today but with bites out of it (just so happens those bites
coincide with major population centres, especially in the 3rd world so there
is a conflict trigger for you)
- about 1-in-100 chance at present
3) 85m change scenario (i.e. ice caps go completely) = very interesting
change, with south America and Siberia turning into archipelagos, Australia
and America getting an inland sea, Florida disappearing etc etc. Exceptionally
unlikely and if it occurred I seriously doubt you'd see the stability and
technological advances of the GZGverse... the Kra'Vak would be the least of
our worries! But good for a chuckle;)

They're not great in resolution, about 1/3 of a page in size, but they
do OK for global GZG maps;)

I do intend on getting this up on the web eventually, but its unlikely to
happen before early January given work commitments, so if anyone wants a

If you'll post them to me (whatever format you like of jpg, gif, png), I'll
put them up within a couple of days

Hi, Beth,

I'd love to see the 5 and 85 m maps - whatever file format you've got,
basically (GIF/BMP/TIF/JPEG), in the highest resolution you've got.
If you've got some sort of vector format that's be best... EPS is simplest.

Mac or Windows, makes no difference. Any file compression scheme is OK, too.

Did you ever get a look at Blue Planet "Natural Selection"? I'm interested to
see what you think of it, as a professional in the field...

Thanks.

G'day,

> Sorry about that guys... Not enuf coffee yet. It's still morning here.

We'll forgive you and I'll even send you the files - this evening
probably... hopefully a lot quicker than my promised flow diagram of
population modelling! No I haven't forgotten;)

It is on my to do list, but I haven't had a chance to sit down and go through
yet unfortunately. I have a trip to South Africa coming up in 3 weeks though
so I may well dump stuff to my laptop to read on the loooonnngggg flights to
come;)
Failing that I will finally get some holiday time in early January -
thought after 5 yrs without one I don't doubt many tasks I've been avoiding,
like unpacking "my boxes" from our last move 4 years ago, will fall at my feet
;)

Cheers

G'day Edward,

I'm still very interested in this, but I haven't had a chance to get a look
yet as its gonna cost me $50+. Given I'm putting out that much I was
wondering if can you play the game with just this book or will I need extra
stuff?

Thanks

You need the BP core book to play, which is more bucks, I'm afraid. Natural
Selection is just a sourcebook on the ecology of the planet, and essentially
useless by itself (although it does make a dynamite sourcebook for just about
any game with ocean in it...).

Gurps BP is slated for release sometime this century, and will probably make
it possible to use natural Selection without the core rules; depends on how
fully they provide conversion information.

The entire BP setting is extremely well-done, and (from my layman's eye)
Natural Selection is superbly done; I was curious to see what a professional
marine biologist might think of it. It is a lot of money, but I must confess
that I thought it the most "bang for my buck" of any of the BP books.
