I know its on April 1 in London, but where/when exactly is Salute? How
late is it open, and how long will you be there, Jon?

I fly into Gatwick around 12 noon. I may try and slide into Salute that
afternoon, depending on how late it runs and where it is in relation to
Gatwick & my B&B in London. (a number of large maybes in there...) Getting
FB2 & (maybe) some of the new not-at-Geohex-yet ships would be pretty
cool.

Ooops, my mistake - I've just checked the times and Salute is actually
open
to the public until 6pm - so that gives you a bit more leeway to make it
along if you can. Just take the underground to Kensington Olympia station and
you'll be right at the door.

Hi Jon Now that I am sure I'm going to Salute. I wondered if I should put in
an advanced order for FB2 and pick up on the day or should I rely on the fact
that I will be in Olympia before the doors open (with my club at table W45)
and buy one of the copies you would bring anyway or have all the copies you
printed been spoken for already. This year we're doing POD RACING. If you get
a break from the madness come and have a game. You can be a hero (aka goody
twoshoes) or a villain (aka dirty rotten s*d). It went quite well at the 1st
show we went to this year,Cavalier 2000. It won best participation game.

Must go, have Fleetbook 2 to read.

Will one of you who already has the book stop smirking long enough to tell us
what changes, if any, are made to Human ships?

Apart from mixed-tech ships (which should work OK balance-wise, but
isn't used in the Tuffleyverse until after the Xeno war) there's only one: the
hull strength classes have been removed. You can now have any number of hull
boxes, as long as "any" is at least 10% of the TMF.

Then why were you and Beth audibly Keeping Quiet about modifications to vector
movement?

G'day Laserlight,

> Then why were you and Beth audibly Keeping Quiet about

Because the biggest changes were to the KV/SV and you did ask about the
human ships....;)

</spolier space - like ANY of you are actually gonna pay attention to
it>

<spoiler space\>

OK KV/SV don't use standard human vector (alternate version of which is
also given in FB2) rather they don't have pushes/turns and thrusters
they
just rotate and main drive all out of their main thrust rating - thus
your suggested restrictions on rotations wouldn't have helped.

Cheers

Beth

Because a general modification to the *movement rules* doesn't qualify
as a change to the *ships*, and you only asked about the ships :-)

Vector changes are:
- Thruster pushes are limited to 1 point per turn
- All thrust used in a turn come from the Main Drive "pool" (but
maneuvering thrust is still limited to half the thrust rating for standard
engines)
- Any number of rotations is allowed.

There's also a number of changes/clarifications to the fighter rules
(which also aren't human *ships* <g>):
- Fighter morale checks are taken *after* PDS have fired
- The distinction between "carriers" and other ships is now officially
dropped; any fighter-carrying ship can launch all its brood in one turn
and recover up to half of it in one turn
- There's now an official rule for rearming fighters during a battle.

If anyone starts screaming, ignore them. The "Main Drive Thrust Pool" was
definitely needed.

Rather than playing a coy game of 20 questions is anyone going to give a
comprehensive, informed and thorough summary of what it actually contains. Or
do I have to wait until I get it next week and do it myself.

This is *the* GZG list, so I'd expect all the FT subscribers are going to buy
it, regardless. Letting us know some comprehensive and structured details,
while I wait (for the production issues to be sorted out) would keep this
punter happy.

I'm also bemused that the reviewers to date see the need for spoiler space.
This is the most eagerly awaited publication for two years and were expected
not want to read about it? weird.

You've already seen several such summaries, but to re-iterate:

* Rules and ship designs for Kra'Vak, Phalons and Sa'Vasku
* Re-printed fighter variant rules from MT, plus the definition of a
"carrier" has been removed (or clarified, or whatever) and there's a
rule for re-arming fighters
* Minor modification to ship construction (hull percentages gone) *
Modification to Vector movement system (already described at least twice)

> I'm also bemused that the reviewers to date see the need for

Well, someone (without his own copy) complained about an early review *not*
having spoiler space...
