Okay, I have made some changes to the FSU web presence--including adding
TO&E for six different battalions (these should be accessible form either my
SG2
or DS2 pages). I also have a FT/FB scenario that includes some RH,
Indonesian, FSE, and Dutch designs of my own (in FB-style ship display
sheets).

Any comments regarding the costing of the ships, the scenario, the TO&E, or
technical items (like "I can't read the stinkin' tables!") would be welcome.

in the FT scenario - which looks rather cool, i have to say - you have a
NAC/NSL/RH fleet going up against an FSE/Dutch/IC fleet. i wouldn't have
thought the Dutch would side with the FSE against the NAC and NSL, given that
they fought the FSE (on the sly) in the 'Liberte' incident, and with
the NAC/NSL at Rheinhold. still, that's just IMO. as for Dutch/IC - does
the term 'Dutch east indies' ring any bells?:) [1]

might i ask why you felt the need to produce extra designs for the FSE, rather
than just using FB ones?

[1] i think. Indonesia became independent from the Netherlands in 1949,
having declared its independence in 1945; i think it was formerly known as the
Dutch east indies.

And the Indonesians used captured Japanese weaponry against the Dutch IIRC
(or was that the Viets vs the French--could have been both).

Yes, I know. Which is why I made them "allies" in this case. The scenario
background has the FSE "renting" a testing area from the Dutch, but the Dutch
still own the system. The IC are working as mercenaries for the FSE. Both
sides (NAC et al and FSE et al) discover the Kra'Vak facility at about the
same time and scramble to get forces into position--and since the Dutch
are the "legal" owners of the place, they come along (besides, this way they
get
first crack at any technology--the Dutch aren't stupid). And it is
THEIR system after all. The IC force commander doesn't get any say in the
matter
anyway--as they just have to do what their employer tells them to do.
So the
situation makes for strange bedfellows--never seen that historically,
right?
:-)

Remember--while the players are on teams, an individual will win (well,
it could be more than one, but not necessarily).

As for the ships--I scratch-build most of my stuff, so the only FB ships
were those that I had actually purchased. For the FSE, the Garibaldi's were
butchered Imperial Star Destroyers from Galoob and the Epee DD were from the
Silent Death range. All other non FB ships were scratch-builds. I
tried to keep the design philosophies consistent with FB, though, so it
shouldn't

really pose THAT much of a problem.

If you play it, let me know how it went for you.

A llooonnngggg time ago - OK, several days and a few hundred emails, at
least - Rob Hofrich announced an update of the FSU web page. I've only
had time to look at the ship designs, but here goes:

Dutch:
De Ruyter - uses 1 Mass too many; should be TMF 88, NPV 297 (or drop 1
PDS, or something)

FSE:
Arma-class FF: OK. Identical to Star Ranger's FSE Ianesco-class FF,
BTW.
Garibaldi-class DN: Well... A nice design, but FSE with level-2 screens
-
and on an "very elderly" ship, at that?
Epee: Very nice, very FSE-ish DD :-)

IC:
Dagger-class FF: 2 Mass unused (ship could be TMF 20, NPV 67, though
then it'd only have 6 hull boxes).
Flores Sea-class CL: An interesting design, though I'd replace one C1-6
battery with a second FC. Singapore BC: Seems to use only 91 Mass, but even
with one Mass unused the NPV is 302 rather than 295.

RH:
Streltsy-class DD and Cossack-class DH: I've found weapon mixes like
this likely to need more than 1 FC, but apart from that the designs are OK.
Tsar Aleksander-class BB: Design is OK, but cost is 455.

FSU:
Sierra-class FF: Design OK now, but costs 58
Magic-class CLE: Only uses 48 of its 50 Mass.
Adam Smith: Only uses 106 of its 107 Mass

Actually, its kind of a little "in" joke for me--since I went to
Virginia Tech and they did recently play against a football (of the American
kind) team from Florida...

Thanks. I really should use a program to do the designs, but it's just more
fun doing it by hand (besides, it keeps me practicing doing quick simple

addition and multiplication in my head). Corrections will be made sometime in
the near future.
