I'm still trying to get caught up with a backlog of messages after a server
outage (mine, not the list's), so I don't know if this has already been
mentioned, but...

The Epic Tau that ForgeWorld is doing is availible for pre-order.

The page has some nice pics. Three or four different kinds of armored
infantry and larger battlesuits, as well as the APC/Tanks and the little
hover drones.

Very Nice. The devilfish especially would make a great dropship. That site's
definitely getting bookmarked.

They do look nice but when 6mm figures starts costing on average 48 pence per
figure it's time to place an order with GZG:)

Who charge a pathetic 10.4 pence per 6mm figure

Guess who just got the calculator out;)

One of the best deals on 6mm infantry right now is the GW Imperial Guard
plastics - 70 figures for £1.50, or 2.14 pence per figure (that's
without calculator to hand!). Admittedly some of the figures on the sprue are
crap and unusable (Ogryns, Ratlings etc) but even if you only use half the
figures they're still good value.

Are those still available? If so, from where? The original IG plastics are my
favorite 6mm infantry, and I'd love to get my hands on some more of them.

think.

This link might or might not work since it's a database driven site:

http://www.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Odd&odd=RaceLayout2
&_do=Default&code=yes&game=6&database=58

If not, follow the links through Epic 40000 to Imperial Guard.

One quick point - these are the newer style Guard figures (a mixture of
the different types of guard figure such as Cadians, Valhallans, Catachan etc)
rather than the older late 80s style figures (I have a box of these squirelled
away for future use).

What of, the old ones? I don't (yet) have any of the newer ones.

Nevermind it was the newer ones I wanted to see. I had an unhealthy amount of
the older versions, I don't want to see those:)

Ah. While the newer ones are in, fact, quite nicely done, they lack the more
generic look of their predecessors. I have a set somewhere, but it's the old
ones who really impress me.

Not least because I want to paint up some of the horse-mounted cavalry
one of these days.

The US site doesn't seem to list any of the plastics; you probably have to
call direct to obtain them.

has pictures of the sprues, including a very hi-res one at:

According to his website, the sprue has:

10 Catachan Jungle Fighters 24 Ice Warriors of Valhalla 1 Commissar 5 Ratling
Snipers 5 Ogryns 6 Rough Riders of Attila 8 Valahallan wheeled autocannons
with 8 loader
6 Valhallan Missile Launcher team (firer + loader)
2 Valhallan commlinks 2 Valhallan officers 1 Psyker

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH the irony, in my brainwashed GW days I painted up the entire
rough riders company. 30 stands 2 riders per stand. I even added flock to the
bases!

I sold them all at last years SALUTE.

Thanks for that. Very different from the old ones, and I see the guy still has
trouble with having to buy lots of sprues to get the right amounts of each
unit.
