Anyone have any suggestions for a 1/300 scale Mecha that would make a
decent troop carrier? I want to do a small Mecha force as my next DSII
faction, and I'd like something *other* than an ATAT to carry the infantry
around.

(Not, I know, the most practical kind of APC...but it's not as though Mecha
are all the practical to begin with. Fun to paint, 'tho....)

If I can't come up with anything suitable I'll just pick up some more wheeled
APCs; those seem appropriate for some reason.

My favorite was the old Ral Partha BattleTech Scorpion (4 legged). Two legged
just does not seem to indicate troops or cargo.

Ral Partha had a mech out somewhat similar to an AT-AT, it was called
the Sirrocco<sp>. Very good looking in a quad sort of way.

HG 1/144 scale Mammoth? or possibly Ferret. Though both would be IFVs.

Ainstey modelling Martian War Machine? [Have to rig it for a very low to the
ground spider attitude rather than the usual standing tall.] A martian
Handling or Digging machine might work better.

Th Mageknight Fist of Tezla [Atlantis Tank] would be more like a mobile
fortress [being about 8 inches long], but you didn't say how many infantry you
were planning to move:)

If you go for wheeled the GZG not Gall force units look suitably high tech.

I seem to remember a roughly 15mm Gratan from Nadia which would be suitable
but I may be confused.

Reaper has a mini called the Scoprion that might work:

Might want to delete or change the main gun.

I modified Ral Partha's Goliath Scorpion mini into a walking tank hunter, but
it could also easily become an APC. It even has smoke dischargers on the knees
of its four legs.

That's exactly what I was thinking, as well. I've only got one Scorpion,
though -- along with the 1/72 scale model it was based on, which will
someday be assembled and painted for SGII.

Oh, that's fantastic! Troop carrier or no, I need to get a few of those.
Obviously, I need to take a good look at the Cav line; I had no idea the minis
were so good. Should of known, what with Reaper being involved....

This is on topic, in that it deals with walkers. I've just started messing
around with the idea of creating some of my own combat walker minis. I've got
some preliminary design stuff up on a website, if anybody wants to check it
out.

Hopefully, once I get my career jump started I can afford to get some
prototypes made. At the very least it will give people an idea of what can be
done with some pretty cool software.
