There is no wrong interpretation of the rules. (I'll get flamed for
THAT one ;-D)
i think everyone just has minis that fit either scale with few between. Size 2
or 3 walkers are just as likely as any other.

Does anyone out there have a problem with the walker rules in DSII?
Specifically, if I am following several threads correctly, y'all only build
walkers class 4 and 5 (and 1).

I read that in the rule book, but did not take it to mean I could not
construct class 2 or 3 walkers.

I use the micro machine AT-ST from star wars as a class 2 light scout
walker.

Have I made a terminal error in the way I view these rules??

I don't think so... maken them any size you want. it is a generic gaming
system right?

As far as the the "hard core" DSII i'm not so sure there are not many people
who have even heard of DSII out where i'm from.

While I personally would just disregard it, p. 14 of DSII clearly reads:

"Combat Walkers and Transport Walkers may be class 4 or 5...Infantry Walkers
are all class 1 vehicles."

So, if one plays "by the book", Walkers may not be of class 2 or 3. But if
strict adherence to the rules-as-printed isn't that important, I can't
see
why the game would break down by allowing the more sensible medium-sized
mecha.

The bigest problem with DSII walkers is that there is a real lack of desent
size 2-3 minitures for it.

Since most of us would use BattleMechDroids (tm) figures, they seem to
allow only size 4-5 (while the elemental armour could be use as size 2,
but yet to see them.

In SGII I use walkers extensively (a size 3 Patlabor Garage kit of a Helldiver
as an orbitally inserted mech, and an old dreadnought from 40k as a size 2).

The rules are fine, it is just the minis.

I cut them into individuals and mount them on pennies for class 1 infantry
walkers. I usually use some variation of the following:

Vehicle, class 1 5 : 0 5 5
Armor class 1 5 : 6 5 6
Fusion Generation Plant 5 : 6 5 10
Infantry Walker 5 : 6 5 16
1 APSW 5 : 6 5 16
1 GMS/L with Basic guidance 5 : 6 3 36
(alternatively, with RFAC/1 and IAVR)

In fact, they will be used a lot in a new scenario I'm working on: "Bugs Don't
Surf (A six foot peak? I thought this whole shitty planet was nothing but
beach break!)" The Kra'Vak Colonel Ka'Urtz has taken the best surf beach on
Beta Prime, and the humans lead a beach assault (with lots of helos) to take
it back.:) In fact, I'm thinking about awarding VP's to the humans for each
unit that leaves combat to surf.
Does GZG make 1/300 surfers?

Or, I'm thinking about using an event card draw, things like "Fear of the
Valkyries: All human players must hum 'The Flight of the Valkyries' while any
Kra'Vak units within 6" of any helos take Confidence Tests." Maybe, "They're
in the Woods: the Kra'Vak may bring one unit on the board out of the treeline
to the rear of the table at the point nearest the closest human helo."

Apologies to Jon for nicking his title, but it was too good to pass up!
Anyway, back to our topic...

I've used some BattleMechDroid (tm) figs as power armor infantry in SGII.
They're not really my style, though, but they are easy to find.

The DSII rules do seem to imply that only size 1, 4, and 5 can be built.
i don't see why middle of the road mechs / mecha could not be
constructed.

As fas as figures for size 2 and 3 depending on what you are using as sizes 1,
4, and 5 smaller mechs could be home build from balsa wood and clay. if you
have a steady hand and lots of time a pretty good set of home made models can
be made.

<when i get some film for my camera i will see about putting some pictures on
some i've made up on a page for you to take a look at.>

When I told Nick form Eureka about "Bugs Dont Surf", he went away with his
sculpture, and told me later that he is going to cast some SGII surfer models,
and run "Acopolypse Now: SG2". at the next CanCon. Even with Surfing rules!!!
(What a sick man, I say that in the nicest way).

Does that mean that I can use Bagpipes??????

Try Heavy Gear, I hear that they do some nice SG size power armour (if
slightly anime style).
