I Use the Citadel Battletech infantry figures. One $10 US Blister pack
provides 28 stands of infantry of 4 types (7 regular infantry, 7 infantry with
missile, 7 full suited infantry that I use for PA, 7 full suited with missile)
They are good moldings and paint up extremely well.

Can anyone suggest good 1/300 scale infantry mini's.
I know that GW/Citadel do the Epic Imperial Guard packs, though are are
a bit expensive. I think that Copelands also make a range, can anyone comment
on them? Also there are the Dark Star figures, what are they like?

many thanks for your assistance, regards gent

Try Main Force Miniature 1/300 Modern British (or US). At that scale
you can hardly tell it isn't SF. Range covers basic infantry (bullpup
rifles, IAVRs, SAW), sniper, GMS team, command stand, AA-missile.
Everything you need really. Mortars, HMG's, bazookas...

Best thing about them is that they are ready based in a *prone*
position (except AA) in groups of 4 or 2. Put your beer-glass on them,
drop them, jump-up-and-down on them, feed them to the dog: you are not
going to break them at the ankles. Also easy to paint and they look like
soldiers, not suicidal morons.

Battletech figs are actually produced by Ral Partha. I also have some suited
infantry from Scotia Microarmour, which are pretty nice. Other than those, and
the Battletech elemental infantry, I use Imperial and Space Marine infantry
from Citadel just because I have a bunch from playing GW's Epic.

I use a variety of mini's for my DSII infantry.

GW Epic scale plastics are pretty cheap (or used to be, I haven't even looked
at GW stuff in a couple of years) but I don't prefer the chunky look. I have a
lot of imperial gurad and a few space marines that I keep around for occasions
when I run out of different infantry types.

Mostly I use Scotia's 1/300th sci-fi infantry. These are not bad
castings,
close to scale (almost all sci-fi infantry is too big), and they have a
variety of different packs. I especially like the prone rocket teams. I use
these for my GMS gunners. I base four standard infantry per rifle team. APSW
teams have a a Scotia lying trooper and a prone trooper with support weapon on
a small sled. FO teams get an officer and one trooper, etc. I have some of the
CMD infantry that I use mostly as assault infantry. They are hunkered over and
carrying small squarish guns and big backpacks. They look to me like plasma
gunners, so make assault troops. For Powered armor, I use some of the bigger
lines of "6mm" infantry. These include Scotia's battle armored troops, the old
Alternative Armies Crusader cityscape packs,
and Battletech/Ogre infantry. At this scale, you could probably also
use some of the variuos modern infantry. A little different paint scheme,
maybe
a few barrels trimmed here and there, and you've got lower tech sci-fi
infantry.

Good looking infantry adds a lot to your force and you'll want plenty since
DSII infantry is usually a major pain in the ass to your opponent.

Funny you bring this up.... Today I bought a GW Epic "Eldar Legion" boxed set
with 120 infantry figures and 12 "Falcon Grav Tanks." It was pretty cheap too,
only 12 bucks (although they were made of plastic). It will be the perfect
start to my DSII army. (Something I have put off for a long time now.)

Are they plastic or metal? How many troops are on a stand? And Citadel makes
them? (the same company that makes Epic Space Marines?)

Citadel have now withdrawn there Epic product. The new Epic system will

probably be released in the second quarter of this year. This I believe

will bring it into line with the new fiqure types which have been released for
40k.

On a personal note I don't play either of these systems as I have found

DSII much more appealing! The old imperial guard for epic did make some

reasonable grunts.

Some of the epic stuff is still available from Citadel mail order. The new
epic should be out in the early spring time. There is apparently much more
detail on the minis (like bolt guns on top of the rhino's etc). I intend to
use the old space marine epic as power armour troops in DSII.

They don't have any of these pack left at citadel mail order when I asked.
