Hi gang!
I have not owned DS2 very long, and it has been sitting on the shelf for the
short while I have owned it. Buuutttt, I have started teaching my middle
school reading class H. G. Wells' War of the Worlds, and I think this might be
an interesting scenario to play out at the local shop (and maybe a fun way to
introduce the game to some buds). Has anyone ever tried this before?
If
so, are you willing to share your Martian stats? And would this be too
complicated for a demo?
Thanks,
Bill
Pretty easy actually,
The martians would be grav vehicles with DFFG weapons. As a scenario it might
be less than exciting though.
Human forces get wiped out until the aliens open the hatches and die.
You would have to depart from the story so the human forces could have a
chance at least.

If you play the game based on the movie done in the '60s. The original
martians were very tall tripod walkers. What their heat beams would be is
anyones opinion.

The Martians from the movie would indeed be boring. They resisted a nuclear
attack! But the original Martians of Wells' novel were unable to complete
their flying machines before earthly germs did them in. Their vehicles were
tripod walkers with heat rays and poisonous black smoke generators. They
were not immune to turn-of-the-century artillery fire, and the H. M . S.
Thunder Child survived a heat blast while destroying one.

G'day Bill,

1. No, but I do use War-of -the -Worlds walkers for my Daleks.
2. I think it'd be an OK demo as there' nothing too complicated about running
walkers.
As for stats I'd make them fairly large even oversize walkers with
DFFGs/HELs or even power guns, but I wouldn't give them much stealth and
stuff that way your turn of the century humans stand a reasonable chance of
doing damage (via their low grade tanks/boats) etc.

They didn't walk, they hovered. There are miniatures out of the martians
from the movie. Or maybe that should be not-martians.

you might want to have a look at 'A Fist Full Of Tripods' (from A Fist Full Of
Games; expect a supplement 'For A Few Tripods More':)). see:

i haven't looked closely, but his modern system ('A Fist Full Of TOWs') is
blasted good.
