Subject: DS2 Turret main/secondary guns and Infantry

Someone mentioned how HKP don't have any secondary Infantry killing
ability (true.) Since I like to put co-ax (other then APSW) into
turrets on AFV's I gave some thought to that comment.

Since I am designing a CFE/some HMT/rare FGP force to draw task forces
off for games I looked up what direct fire main/secondary guns have
anti-Infantry capability:

HKP/GMS/IAVR - None

HEL/HVC/MDC/SLAM/RFAC - Yellow Only
HEL = 36" max - 2 chits - no advantage for using anything
over size 2
           HVC/MDC/RFAC = Medium range - 2 chits - also no chit
advantage over size 2
           SLAM = 12" (SR) - 1 chit per class (3-5)

DFFG - Red
DFFG = Medium - 3 chits - Added value to those size 1 and
2 guns.

This compares to Inf/Inf:

Red & Yellow Red Yellow
open terrain soft cover Dug-in, urban

Close Assault:
All Red & Yellow Red
open terrain Soft cover Dug-in

AND Artillery:

Red & Yellow Red Yellow

                    None
HEF HEF (Dug-in) MAK

                     MAK (Dug-in)

This gives some usefulness for those HEl `1-2, and maybe 3' Coax weapons
in a mixed turret, IMO, along with the light sniper/'APC-Recon killer'
role.

DFFG's look nice even though the range varies from 8" for class 1, 12"
for class 2, 16" for class 3, 20" for class 4, and 24" for class 5 - all
outside IAVR range but none outside GMS/L range (actually only MDC 4 and
5 medium range out ranges a GMS/L - 36" - that a infantry specialist
team
might be armed with. The MDC/3 and ALL the HEL's equal the GMS/L
range.)

Generally I think of the co-ax Direct Fire weapons as being in the size
1
to 3 (usually 1 or 2) dimensions, although a MDC /4 on HMT powered size
5
AFV with a HKP/5 main gun is possible.

Just some thoughts - comments welcomed.
