Hey, I finally got my grav tanks painted (36 thanks to a Centurion box set)
and was wondering how the other list members based theirs. These are plastic
so I think a metal base would be better, but if plastic would work just as
well that would be cool. Especially if it was cheaper.

The way i did mine (the dreaded Blood Hawk Cav!! Grim and perilous Mercs!) was
to use transparent bases to plastic flying stands. Just mounted them on
the clear plastic bubble. I am thinking of re-mounting them using an
inverted mental tack glued to a penny for each with the tank inpaled in the
spiky bit...

Nice idea about the tack thing, I just happen to have a bunch of those laying
around. Pennies are pretty easy to come by.

The Kharee does not look with favor on spelling mistakes..

Hehehe, you're lucky that I left the line about 'inpaled tanks' alone -
the
obvious homonym (in-pailed) produces a frightening image of tanks
sitting inside of huge plastic beach buckets with garish colored handles...

G'day Christopher,

My husband uses a thin piece of brass rod (few mm diameter as far as I
remember). Which he sticks into balsa or plasti-card which is slightly
larger in size then the grav tank. Depending on what type of terrain you
want the tank flying over you flock/detail the base accordingly and then
stick the tank on (use super-glue gel as it stays were its supposed to
and doesn't flow everywhere).

There may also be grav tanks stands for sale (I know Nic at Eureka in
Australia has them so I guess the guys where ever you are do too).

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Beth

I've started to base everything from SG2 figs down to Ds2 figs on various size
washers. This lets me stick a magnet strip down on my storage box to hold the
minis and also gives them a nice little extra bit of weight (don't
know why I like that, but I like weighted chess pieces better as well --
more dramatic when you make your move, I suppose).

Just my US$0.02.

I've been using nails to base small spacecraft. They give a really nice
height, and are very cheap. The head goes on a penny, and the pointy end I
trim with a wire cutter to providde a (mostly) flat surface for mounting the
ship on.

Should work well for grav armor also.
