Subject: RE: [DS2] Doing away with damage chits...
> From: ~ On Behalf Of FlakMagnet72 > Has anyone done any work to replace the process of Andrew Martin has done some work on several alternative systems, one of which is a variation of the FMA (opposed polyhedral dice) system in DS & SG http://lists.firedrake.org/gzg/199905/msg00337.html Brushman posted a straight percentile table http://lists.firedrake.org/gzg/199908/msg00452.html Tom Christney produced a "throw two dice" table http://lists.firedrake.org/gzg/199802/msg00537.html and Phillip Pournelle came up with the ultimate time- saver of simply leaving the chits in their die-cut sheet and using the sheet as a table to roll two dice against! I can't trace some of the original work done by Mikko Kurki-Suonio and others, and a quite a few of the above articles refer to sites that are now dead. Note that all but one of these suggestions involves a method for simulating the drawing of chits rather than replacing the draw concept. As Mike Elliot originally pointed out, simply drawing the chits can be quicker... Having said that, it's been fairly evident from the postings over the years that DS players are divided on the question of chits. Some of us don't mind it (or even consider it one of the attractions of the game) whereas others would go to some lengths to dispense with them. It is agreed that no-one really likes the marker chits - see the "Away Foul Chits" and similar threads for ideas on replacing them with models, given the resources to do so.
