BTW, does it strike anyone else odd that the HQ and HQ support at company
level is apparently subsumed into one of the Platoons?

* IJK uses 2 sections of 3 vehicles making up a platoon of 6.

Playing around with Battalion vehicles count (no HQ elements [yet]) varying
vehicle per platoon between 3 and 5, platoons per company from 3 to 5, and
companies per battalion from 3 to 5 I ended up with Battalions totaling from
27 through 125 vehicles (practical cut off I used was 64
[4, 4, 4] as a maximum.)

I tried to place fewer vehicles in a battalion as the tech effectiveness
subjectively improved (strictly IMO). Comments based on experience or math (or
even strictly IYO) are welcome.

In the DS2 fluff? I imagined that since command was consolidated at the
"Battle Group" level you're not going to see any command units other than
Platoon Leader vehicles.

In my games, it's worked just as well to have company HQ unit as to not. My
bigest problem was not having enough minis to make all the units I wanted for
each
side. :)

I tend to see this organized different ways. I run company command units (a
pair of tanks and a APC or MICV) as a small separate platoon. I've also seen
them run as individual command (as in table) for scenarios where you had three
companies, each having its own
command element, _and_ a battalion command element. When one of the
company elements bought the farm, that company counted as having lost an on
table command unit (associated confidence losses etc). The same effect was the
case for the battalion command unit's loss.

I've got more than enough. I always seem to have an extra tank or something
left over to make a company command platoon. Usually it is comprised of the
mortar platoon (detached typically), a Fire Support Team vehicle (sometimes
detached and sometimes not, just like in real life), a Company Co track, an XO
track and a PSG's track (usually detached and running around with the mortar
platoon).

Typically they just work out as an extra platoon that is smaller.
